Good contest, Which is what i wanna see.  :)

Yes Englands day without a doubt BUT! they really should have scored more runs. They are about 100 runs short of what Australia would have scored. If we get a couple early we'll run through them I reckon. Time will tell if them not getting enough runs on day 1 will have any bearing.

Stuff the contest mate....hope the Aussies give'em a good going over!!! 8)

Reckon this test has all the hallmarks of a draw.

Interesting in the press-conferences from Hoggard, and then Hayden the other day...did anyone see them?

Hoggard was emphasising that they did not want to lose this Test, whereas Hayden was talking about winning this Test.
Think this sums up the mindset of the two teams, and this would suit the Aussies for sure.

Hopefully tomorrow, the Aussies will rip'em apart, get them all out for around 320-350...and then bat for a couple of days.

Re: Cricket

Apologies if this has been posted already and I've missed it amid the Ashes euphoria. Two new world records by one cricketer.

Yousuf tops Viv record
December 01, 2006 12:00am

PAKISTAN'S Mohammad Yousuf yesterday broke West Indies legend Viv Richards' 30-year record for the most Test runs scored in a year -- then scored his ninth century of 2006 to surpass another mark.

The right-hander drove Corey Collymore for four in his second innings in the third Test against the West Indies in Karachi, taking him to 48 and past Richards' mark of 1710 runs, achieved in 1976.
An elated Yousuf raised his bat and looked to the skies, then hit the next ball for another boundary and his half-century.

West Indies captain Brian Lara congratulated the Pakistani at the end of the over.

Yousuf, 32, achieved the feat in 11 Tests, the same number that Richards took to set the old record.

The Pakistani went on to reach his century in the afternoon session -- his second of the match and his ninth of 2006, breaking his own world record.

At tea, he was unbeaten on 113 with his team cruising at 3-339 with an overall lead of 383 runs.

Yousuf's fighting 102 in the first innings had already broken the record for hundreds in a 12-month calendar period, held by Richards (1976) and Sri Lanka's Aravinda de Silva (1997), with seven each.

Yousuf, who made his debut in South Africa in 1998, started the year with 461 runs in Pakistan's 1-0 win in the three-match home series against arch rival India.

He missed one of the two Tests in Pakistan's away series against Sri Lanka and managed 31 runs in two innings there.

But the middle-order batsman stepped up a gear on the summer England tour, hitting a monumental 202 at Lord's. He scored a masterly 192 at Leeds and followed that up with 128 in the forfeited Oval Test.

His success continued in the current series against the Windies, starting with a match-winning knock of 192 in the first Test in Lahore.

Yousuf then salvaged a draw in Multan with his 191 and made 102 in the first innings of this Test.

Richards achieved his record with 829 runs in the four-match away series against England in 1976. That total included 291 at The Oval and 232 at Nottingham. - AFP

He might have done it earlier if the Test in England wasn't abandoned (Not sure if he was playing though)

I wanna see the aussies win, but i lose interest if it's a one sided pasting.

Pietersen is a star should bat at 4 though.

Poms likely to go in with same 11 which is surprising. At this stage it looks like Aussies will to but not yet official.

England hoping for Giles to spin them to victory in this test

Think they may win just to draw the series 1-1
Pietrson to make a double hundred.
Bugger was 42 away from my prediction yesterday morning.

Re: Cricket

Very boring day. We should just bat out the next two days.

The English had no game plan. Just plodded along on a pitch that is like the Hume Highway.

Look for Ponting to post another hundred and Damien Martyn get another score that prolongs his life by another two months.

Must agree scoop, luckily i managed to switch over to the Biography channel in time to watch what happened behind the scenes in Nirvana's making of their clasic album nevermind which helped brighten the arvo up a bit. Great stuff.

I hope we do bat for the next 2 days but as we see so often (even in the last test) it's amazing how one team can bat and make a decent score so easily but when the next team goes in the pitch looks like a minefield and the bowlers make the ball swing or seam like mad. It's the similar to the other phenomenon where a team that's 2 /300 often crumbles to be all out for 390 ( or whatever) or a team thats 7/50 recovers to be all out for 280.

Personally I think it's all psychological but ......

Re: Cricket

once again warne has failed to make inroads into a teams top order. the poms and most other test nations top order have his measure. mcgrath strikes a pitch that doesnt give any help and he looks pedestrian and all of his 36yrs. lee once again fails against the poms and doesnt look like taking wickets against them..
as i have stated in the past its time to play tait johnson and clarke.at the moment my spinner would be brad hogg.

Clarke is playing  ???
just letting everyone know he would be in my team i could have said tait johnson and lee.

Re: Cricket

Is Simon O'Donnell the worst commentator ever? :help

Having 3 in the box at one time has spread the stocks a little too thin, but this guy has no idea, he says the most stupid, unrelated, irrelevant things and then tries to get the other guys to go along with him. It's excruciatingly embarrassing, and Mark Taylor was trying to go along with him yesterday and Bill (in typical style) just came out and said his comment was plain stupid.

And the 35 year old Hogg as well, I thought that you were looking for young blood!

Claw, the pitch is as flat as a tack and made the poms look much better than what they are for a start. Brad Hogg is a good spinner, thats all, not in the same class as warne and doesnt have the variety of a warne. As for McGrath, yep looked average today whilst bowling into the wind but lets just see how the poms bowl tommorrow before going off on your own little tangent about how our bowlers are in your judgement, not up to it.

Tommorows play will be the true indicator of how this match will pan out and imo it will be a draw cause there is nothing at all in it for the bowlers unless they can snatch a couple of wickets with the new ball. Otherwise after about 10-12 overs the pendulium swings back to the batsmen. Probably the most batsmen friendly wicket ive seen at Adelaide and that is saying something cause usually after the first 3/4 of the first day the pitch settles down but it was like a day 2 or even 3 pitch yesterday - the first day of a test match which bewildered me.
