imo warne has been a chronic underperformer in recent seasons in the sense he is not taking top order wickets.

What have you been drinking Clawrine?

How many wickets did he take in the last Ashes series in England again?
Unlike the 'pitcher' from Sri Lanka, Warne has taken the majority of his wickets against quality opposition.
ive been drinking a very nice cold cascade premium lager bubbles. go thru his last couple of yrs and you will find 90% of his wickets have been the last 5 rather than the first 5.

as i have stated in the past its time to play tait johnson and clarke.at the moment my spinner would be brad hogg.

Clarke is playing ???
just letting everyone know he would be in my team i could have said tait johnson and lee.

Oh, so you mean Clark (without the 'e')

And instead of Hogg, why don't you go for Michael Hauritz? 10 years Hogg's jnr, and now that he plays for NSW, he must be a huge chance! :-X

once again warne has failed to make inroads into a teams top order. the poms and most other test nations top order have his measure. mcgrath strikes a pitch that doesnt give any help and he looks pedestrian and all of his 36yrs. lee once again fails against the poms and doesnt look like taking wickets against them..
as i have stated in the past its time to play tait johnson and clarke.at the moment my spinner would be brad hogg.

Claw, the pitch is as flat as a tack and made the poms look much better than what they are for a start. Brad Hogg is a good spinner, thats all, not in the same class as warne and doesnt have the variety of a warne. As for McGrath, yep looked average today whilst bowling into the wind but lets just see how the poms bowl tommorrow before going off on your own little tangent about how our bowlers are in your judgement, not up to it.

Tommorows play will be the true indicator of how this match will pan out and imo it will be a draw cause there is nothing at all in it for the bowlers unless they can snatch a couple of wickets with the new ball. Otherwise after about 10-12 overs the pendulium swings back to the batsmen. Probably the most batsmen friendly wicket ive seen at Adelaide and that is saying something cause usually after the first 3/4 of the first day the pitch settles down but it was like a day 2 or even 3 pitch yesterday - the first day of a test match which bewildered me.
i said hogg because he is easily the form spinner in the country at the moment. how many wickets did warne take in brissie 4 for the match and 1 today. he doesnt look like going thru englands top order. the trouble is our bowlers dont look like takeing wickets except clarke. there is no penetration at all.my argument has been our so called younger second string players could do just as good a job as those bloody old hacks. i ask again why are we making our best young cricketers wait till they are near 30 before giving them a go at the top level.

Exactly Tuby, and the weathers not going to get in the way either (Sun 23, Mon 30, Tue 33), can see this ending in a dull draw.

There's likely a good explanation for that Claw...

Perhaps it's because we've just won most of the tests over the past two years convincingly. The quicks have been getting us off to a good start.

Warney doesn't open the bowling. ;)

By the way I did go back and look through the Ashes wickets in 2005.
There is nothing whatsoever in your argument that he takes more lower order wickets than top order. Looks about even to me...

He is still by far the best man for the job.

Hogg? See Phanto's Carey/Briedis comparison... ;D

Re: Cricket

Would not have thought it would be 90% probably 60-70%.

Hogg I know he has two 5fos this summer but is a fair bit below Warne as a bowler and has MacGill, Casson, White, Bailey, Cullen ahead of him.

McGrath had a shocker this test but did get 6 for in last test when England battled to get 10 wickets for the test, deserves to stay in the team but think it will be his last series as with Langer, Gilly and Martyn.

At this stage after this series there is the world cup and then home tests against Sri Lanka and India. I think all four want to go on a high and win the ashes. McGrath as has more things on his mind, Gilly looks tired and Langer and Martyn will serve no purpose only hinderance on some players if they are playing next summer but do desrve the dignity of staying in while in their current form (except Martyn who if no runs by Perth should stay there for Christmas).

Throw doherty into that list 2.

the pom's will win this test match.

Is Simon O'Donnell the worst commentator ever? :help

Having 3 in the box at one time has spread the stocks a little too thin, but this guy has no idea, he says the most stupid, unrelated, irrelevant things and then tries to get the other guys to go along with him. It's excruciatingly embarrassing, and Mark Taylor was trying to go along with him yesterday and Bill (in typical style) just came out and said his comment was plain stupid.

:ban SOD

Couldn't agree more RBF.

SOD = terrible that is why he has been sacked from Sport 927 twice.

I think the 'innovation' of 3 commentators just doesn't work.

Re: Cricket

Flat track sure but credit to the tourists for putting the score on the board.Local bowlers tried hard but weren't able to create many wicket taking opportunities.Despite Lee & Warne having worse figures, reckon McGrath was understandably most found wanting.

Curious to see if England, with their extra bowler, can press home their advantage.
Thought they should have dropped a quick for Panesar for some variety but guess they wanted to give the incumbents a chance to show if Brisbane was an aberration before making any changes.

Aussies, while looking to be positive, need to occupy the crease to give their bowlers a break after spending the last 4 days of the series ( in less than a week) in the field.Handy if Gilchrist could find form with the bat to enable the selectors to consider 5 bowlers (3 pace,2 spinners) in future games.

how dumb is the bloke that hired him the second time? ;D

Re: Cricket

Listen to ABC pure and simple.
The only reason that Tony, Bill and Richie still have jobs is because of the 12th man.
They talk utter crap and even with all there replays they have no clue.

not comparing themand i am not knocking his record or contribution to the game. i just saying hogg is a bowler in form and seems to have the wood over most international teams at one day level anyway.
the ashes is not the only series we have played the last 2 yrs and it was a series we lost warne may have got a few wickets but usually only after they made runs. imo hogg and mcgill would be better wicket taking options atm especially against top order batsmen.
lastly i would have thought stuart clarke was the natural replacement for mcgrath both are similar. one looks like taking wickets all the time while the other needs help from the wicket. imo clarke bowled far better than mcgrath in brisbane but never got the rewards. mcgrath is keeping johnson out of the team who is already what 25 26 and lee is keeping tait out.

what really pisses me of is ponting and the acb are always boasting about how good our reserve players are if you like. but when someone gets a niggle like mcgrath and a rest would do them more good than harm and someone like tait or johnson would get exposure and do just as good a job they play the past it old man.

Re: Cricket

Hatden gone for 12 leaving Aussies in real trouble.Still too early to get a guage on this match as Aussies have so much batting to come.

Re: Cricket

C'mon Pommies :clap .........................let's get some competition into this boring game.
