Dunno. They’re supposedly the experts; it’s what they do.

They’d probably put more science behind it than you do when selecting your losing quaddie every Saturday.

Ain't actually any of our hospital systems been over run as yet. All state Govt's supposedly ramped up our hospital capacities to enable them to cope when the virus first started, maybe they shut down all the extra unused capacity because they never needed it in the first place.

So we should wait until the hospitals are over run before locking down? Horse. Bolted. Gate.

NSW bragging they are vaccinating at a rate faster than anywhere in the world, (if they are that is good), but maybe ScoMo can negotiate with his mates in Poland and get a million doses directed Victoria's way.

Yeah that Nick Coatsworth has become a bit of a NSW & scomo apologist.

Ain't been a lock down anywhere in the world that has worked to stop this virus over the last 18 months, as soon as the doors open it steps back in.

Yep we need to accelerate vaccination and learn to live with the fact that the old Coroner, just like hundreds of other viruses, diseases n man made stupidity kills some people at times.

TM there is a time and a place for this rhetoric but not now. Unfortunately a lot of people in this country seem to be devoid of being able to look at what people overseas have endured over the last 15 months and just see them out and about, and then scream up and down, but but I want that.

Talk about lockdown or living with it like they are overseas, is not even looking into where countries have come from.

Take the UK for example, they came out of lockdown in July 2021 but were in lockdown for the best part of 12 months (sounds fun doesn't it). They were in lockdown and had also lost control of the virus (much like Sydney) so they were locked down for that length of time AND they still had thousands of deaths. Sounds like the worst scenario. The reason why they are coming out of it now is not due to making a decision to live with it or a lockdown is entirely due to their vaccination status. We are nowhere near that yet.

Your last sentence is the only part of your post that is logical. We definitely need to accelerate the vaccine rollout (which is due to Slomo essentially) and then once we are at those higher vaccination rates, yes we need to learn to live with it, and we will need to be aware that Aussies will die from Covid, but the point of vaccines is that this will be at a more controlled level unlike the uncontrolled nature that you are suggesting.

What I find most frustrating is the constant hypocrisy shown by the NSW leadership.

Gladys and co have blamed the acceleration of cases on a small percentage of people who are breaking the rules. That's definitely a contributor to the spread, no doubt about it.

But the hypocritical part of this is that the states and territories (finally) agreed on a national plan for dealing with covid, and the strategy was fairly simple and clear - a short, sharp lockdown as soon as cases are detected. Quash it quick and early until our vaccination rates have increased. Everyone agreed this was the plan, and went home to implement it separately.

However it turns out that one state didn't really agree with the strategy - its almost like this particular state believed that the rules don't apply to them. They acted with arrogance and entitlement when an outbreak occurred and refused to follow the basic rules in the plan by implementing a hard lockdown. Consequently the *smile* hit the fan and its hit nearly every one of its neighbours.

Yet each day at 11am Gladys chastises the public for "not doing the right thing", and suggesting this is the reason for the continuing spread. That might be true, but from my perspective, Gladys represents that small percentage of entitled wankers out there who believe they don't need to follow the rules. All the other states have implemented the plan, yet one state has not. Had they "followed the rules" agreed upon by national cabinet, we'd be in a much difference place today nationally!

She also tells the other states that they're simply going to have to learn to live with the virus now, and the worst part is that she's probably right, its too late to put the lid back on and we are going to have to live with it. But the other states are being forced into this position so i'm not surprised to see strong resistance from the likes of Mark McGowan.

We were always going to have to live with the virus at some point, but this is supposed to be when vaccination rates are far higher. And on that point, the entire argument ultimately stems from Morrison's failures on procuring vaccines.

Pt 2 - look up what exponential growth means. I don’t understand the logic of ‘something bad hasnt happened’ means you should change what you are doing. I haven’t been hit by a train as a pedestrian. Doesn’t mean I will start running along train tracks. This is the whole reason we are doing what we are doing now.

TM famously criticised the state government for overreacting and being "a nanny state" for advising people to evacuate parts of Gippsland during the 2019 bushfires the day before 1000 people had to be rescued off a Mallacoota beach.

TM should have a chat to front-line health care workers who had work triple shifts wearing 3 layers of PPM to see how they feel about it. But hey, the hospitals didn't literally collapse so all good, who cares.

65 cases, ONLY 12 in ISO, oh dear!!!!!!!!!

The language around this was only 12 in iso for the whole of their infectious period which to me means others were in ISO for part of their infectious period, probably once they tested positive.

Only because they are getting supply shovelled at them at a rate greater than other states.

I think it means what it is, and that is we have lost the handle on it.

Yeah. I mean like Kennett and the right wingers would have, let’s just be California or Florida or wherever.

Anyway, when are the additional Pfizer doses coming to support Dud-mo’s announcement that all 16+ ‘ers will be able to get a shot of it from next week ?
