Coronavirus

Here's why we don't have enough Pfizer.

BTW Morrison had Pfizer when he was inoculated.
Angry... I don't get Twitter... You are putting this up as "evidence" who is Patrick Kelly? Why wouldn't you go to the source like Norman Swan himself? Someone with a track record and expertise.
(PS I googled Kelly.... Twitter handle? "Collingwood diehard" )

FFS. Two ”false positives“ now, the main reason for extension.
Vic government getting a lot of flak over this amid demands to relent on the lockdown or at least make the health advice public. Doubt they'd invent reasons to keep us locked up or to secure federal funding relief, but it's going to test the public's patience.

Here you go brother. The interview with the great Dr Norman Swan himself.

This will be the next Desal plant. Fox will be pocketing rent for 20 years and all he has to do is pay a cleaner and a security guard to stop squatters moving in.
Yeah whilst it's good to see they are finally doing something about this, it should have been done 12 months ago. Surely we knew then that this would be an issue for a couple of years at least. The quarantine facility should have been built and in full operation by now.

Slooooooo-moooooooo.

Bloody great news on the purpose built quarantine facility getting the green light in Victoria.
Well done Merlino & co. Well done Morrison & co.
This is the way to go.

Don't get too excited just yet. A Fed Gov announcement that addressed a current issue that was making the Gov look bad?

History says it may get done if there's a shitload of money to be made for a Lib donor. If there's no obvious financial winner, it may just be another hollow announcement.

But Dutton, a senior member of our federal government dismissed this plan a month or so ago, saying it was "smoke and mirrors". Was he talking about something he knew nothing about or has Morrison done another backflip?

As I've stated on many occasions those who are cunning as a fox always back both horses in a 2 horse race!

That all may be true but we're closer to a solution than we were yesterday.

Quarantine is not a solution any more, vaccination is. By the time this is built we'll be fully open.

Sure, maybe we'll get another pandemic one day - the last major one was Spanish flu 100 years ago. We did have minor ones - SARS, ebola, swine flu in the last 30 years.

Made lots of big announcements though.

Which is why I'm not overly worried about their announcement to build a gas fired power station, they announced it, whether they will do it is a whole other thing.

The vaccine shortage is not AZ, plenty of that as we can source it here, from CSL, who did offer to set up mRNA vaccine making facilities last year. Then again, if we still owned the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories, we could have just built the mRNA making facilities and sold the Pfizer vax all over the place.

No, the problem is they don't have enough of the Pfizer vaccine, you know, the one the majority of the population needs.

DS

So, repatriation flights from India.

First flight, using a discredited Lab, 46 positive cases, 70 people barred from flying.
All subsequent flights, using an accredited lab, 2 positive cases and barred from flying.

Sort of proves it's better sometimes not to be first.

Here's why ScoMo relaxed the Aged Care worker restrictions.

that is truly appalling. then on the weekend the Libs had the gall to claim they are the party for working Australians. This is the most anti-worker government in Australian history. And that says a lot when the previous Liberal government introduced workchoices.

Well when companies such as Harvey Normal not paying back Jobkeeper, they thought they would try to save a few shekels by trying to haggle down the cost of vaccines.

If there were zero/one case today, big chance lockdown would have been lifted i reckon.
Ahh well.

Yeah a bit disapointed with 4 cases. all close contact of previous cases and in Iso which is good of course. But we'd all love to see a zero very soon.

now they are saying there is a new variant in Vic (Delta).

Slight chance they will lift it if zero or one case in the next 2 days.

Cant see it though.

I guess it depends if all the new cases are already in iso and directly linked to previous cases. This shows that contact tracing is working well and controlling the exposure that infected people have with the rest of the community.
