Coronavirus

European countries with higher vaccination rates are showing reduced rates of transmission.

The UK has now delivered 96 doses of vaccine per 100 head of population.

FFS. Two ”false positives“ now, the main reason for extension.

Three cases today, two kids of a known case and the 89 year aged care resident we knew about.

This super contagious beast doesn‘t seem to be much different to last year. If we get sub three tomorrow, this lockdown can’t last a day longer then scheduled.

Would rather a False Positive than a False Negative.

Scoop makes a valid point though. Whilst the Fed’s moderate support has finally come through after a week, this state lockdown can’t last too long this time. Livelihoods are now being genuinely affected & that’s of great concern to our social stability.
The vaccine roll out needs to truly be at warp speed. That’s why hearing that we are running out of Pfizer vaccines is so concerning.

Yep, they don't have enough vaccines, the Feds must be upset that the outbreak in Vic has led to such high demand, because they simply have not sourced enough vaccines.

Front of the queue? Yeah right.

It's interesting to compare how the countries react. We had 954 new infections yesterday (total population 5.8 million) and that figure has been around 1,000 for weeks. But the government appears OK with it as long as the hospitalizations are manageable - and they are.
22% are fully vaccinated, 38% have had their first shot (me included).

Think how Australia would be re-acting with figures like that. And Denmark is opening up! I went to a family Christening recently with about 50-odd people there. Hadn't seen the wife's family for almost a year (four hour drive away). There had actually been three births in the family in that time. You needed a corona-passport to get in and had to wear a mask if you were not sitting down eating.

Lockdowns are happening on a regional basis.
didn't know a 4 hour drive was possible in denmark, its tiny, traffic?

edit. looked it up, smaller than I thought, size of 2 or 3 NT cattle stations!

One-fifth the size of Victoria in geographic area but there are islands, peninsulas and waterways everywhere that makes driving somewhat less than direct.
I just google-mapped it --- Hundested to Store Darum. It's 304 kms and three and three-quarter hours.

They say there is nowhere in Denmark that is more than 50 kms from the nearest coast.

Australians have a right to come home, the issue is quarantine.
I don't argue with this. But when / how soon becomes the issue. What constitutes a reasonable number of weekly arrivals? We are hearing 10000 IN India but how many in other parts of Asia, Europe even the now utopic USA and UK. They all have the right to return but what is the rate we should aim for?
Is it also a right for an Australian to be be able to leave of their own volition (and return on demand) ?

If I recall correctly he is talking in the context of needing a better system than having people just head home for the 2 weeks as was happening initially.

I was one of the first people to arrive back in Australia in March 2020 after the come home call had been made, and I couldn't believe how underprepared the system was. You didn't even have to provide them with the details of where you were going.

The initial push for hotel quarantine was to fix that debacle I think.
You have been in and out of Aus more frequently than a Hollywood actor. I just worked out I haven't left Vic since May 2018 (family issues for two years) now my trip to see us play Suns I'm a month is looking very shaky.

Later on in that "inquiry", he also tried to absolve himself of any responsibility or accountability for the program.

He effectively said that the person that chairs a committee (National Cabinet in this instance) of any sorts is responsible for any final decision being made. He said he knew this because he has chaired plenty of committees. He added the remarks as an additional unrequested comment after seeming to have previously finished his statement to the question asked by the "inquirer".
Well all we need to do now is find the Chairman of the Private Security Guard meeting.

The adults should be yeah. Kids should get parents/guardians approval first.

From all reports it appears that the faux plan to build a joint at Mickelham is coming to fruition with the impending announcement it'll be down Geelong way....
cunning as foxes these politicians of all persuasions!
Gerry the van man will also be extremely chuffed...
There is some serious coin being made by a few 'great Australians' during the pandemic;)
This will be the next Desal plant. Fox will be pocketing rent for 20 years and all he has to do is pay a cleaner and a security guard to stop squatters moving in.

Found a good place to get data regarding vaccines in Australia. The last graph shows that we were very comfortable until 2 weeks ago. Now that we are doing the right thing. Now over to the government to get the vaccine out to the GP’s.
I had AZ 1 today. Emailed my doc Tuesday to get in queue half an hour later get a call saying come in Thursday.
Asked the nurse are they still getting 50.a week and she said 150 but they only take 100 as they haven't got the resources to do more as their patients don't put their ongoing medical needs on hold.
That would apply to industry as a whole...who are all these nurses sitting around doing nothing that can be press ganged into a year long vaccination drive? It's not just a vaccine supply issue.
