Coronavirus

Bottom line, the gov't has performed terribly both in communication and delivery of the rollout. But there are other factors influencing it and I'm not sure comparisons to regions devastated by covid are the best for comparisons. NZ have less than 8% with one dose and less than 4% of the population fully vaccinated.

Without a doubt you can make many arguments that because Australia has avoided the devastation other countries have had, we shouldn't be pushing to the front.

But #ScottyFromMarketing and his crew decided to set very high expectations, unrealistic expectations, and when they failed to meet those expectations, they start blame shifting with some style.

If we knew we had limited supply, the government could easily have said the priority is frontline workers, emergency services, aged care workers, the vulnerable, politicians, olympians, cricketers, footballers and then the general populations. Other than the last 3 I reckon the population would have accepted that.

Instead with the limited supply, which only a minor portion can be blamed on withheld shipments, they are still cocking things up, making up numbers and blaming everyone except #ScottyTeflon

Also the above article stated that Victoria and Queensland are against allowing people from other states who are fully vaccinated exemptions to enter the state.

This I think does more harm than good. If it encourages more people to get vaccinated and helps open up the country with little risk surely we should be doing this.

Given the vaccine does nought to prevent anyone contracting the virus, the unknown capacity for the vaccinated to transmit it is a potential stumbling block.

I'm assuming vaccinated travellers will still be required to serve two weeks' quarantine on return. Potentially a very big decision to waive it. Hope they're basing any decisions on observation in other countries; being the guinea pig didn't work for Sweden.

Stiff penalties for sneezing, spitting etc in public might be required.

I don't think there should be a "vaccine exemption" system until everybody has a reasonable opportunity to be vaccinated.

If you turned 40, 2 weeks ago, you get an opportunity to get vaccinated and get an exemption. If you turn 40 in May 2022, you don't.

It's not particularly fair to pick and choose who travels overseas based on the date of their birth.

Unfortunately the vax isn’t proven to stop you from contracting or transmitting the virus. It’s only meant to reduce your symptoms. I was surprised to read the latest TGA report which said 210 have died from it already and that’s probably not counting all the other coincidences.

In the above instance I was talking about interstate travel. If it motivates more people to get vaccinated and opens up the economy I see it as a good thing. I see your point about equity of it. Can kids travel if they can’t get the vaccine for example? However nothing is equal in this. Regional Victoria gets shafted in each lockdown.

Have fun in Hermit land.

Happy to have an EU passport.

See you in 2025.

51k tests by Victorians is a bloody awesome effort. Most really want to get on top of this.
A reminder that this is the Indian strain of the virus that's killed many thousands of people in India recently.
A few more days to lock down & get on top of it is a small price to pay.

I personally agree with this view but I'm not sure the people who are taking massive financial hits from the lockdown will.

Try telling the Herald Sun that. This whole pandemic they've done nothing but rail against lockdowns and complain about why they're not necessary or should be relaxed.

That "newspaper" should only ever be used as dunny paper. Murdochian trash.

Any paper that has Robbo as their chief football writer should never be regarded as a quality publication.

We are a long way from the finishing line.

As a Melbournian, this is extremely tough.

As someone who also suffers from depression, anxiety and PTSD the news this morning about a potential extension is shattering.

I've been working from home for 18 months. It doesnt get any easier, though am very happy I still earn a wage.

Before the first lockdown, i lost my dad, my partner also had an organ transplant.

Trying to look after my elderly mother, carrying a letter during the various lockdowns incase I get stopped by Police. Feeling guilty to leave the house.

Each of us have our own experience of Covid19.

Support each other, don't be a$$holes and follow the rules (even if you don't like it) Be respectful.

Blame who you want, have your own opinions. But just like media reporting on Richmond and the constant flow of hate for the RFC, comments around Covid19 do impact people so be careful what you post.

Richmond in 2020 saved me. Having the team to look forward to each week, albeit on the couch got me through, I can honestly say that.

Be kind and always check in with those around you, even if you dont know them that well.

Richmond FC unites us all, we are passionate, proud and often crazy in defence of our beloved club.

Just like us winning the flag again in 2021, play your part - we got this.
