Coronavirus

It was pure politics - Morrison wanted GPs to do much of the vaccination rollout as he didn't want states and health departments taking too much of the glory. He felt he could control the messaging on this to make it more of a political win for him.

Yes, he really is that disgusting.

Good article here on how the rollout strategy was bungled from the director of the Grattan Health Institute.

I didn't think it would be possible to have a worse pig of a man than Abbott as PM, yet here we are within a decade, with this useless lazy crooked slob.

Howard paved the way for both.

everything that is bad about Australia now, you can pretty much draw a line back to him.

He is to Australia's moral bankruptcy, what Robert Johnson is to rock and roll.

Im only planning to throw 3 more big parties in my life.

1. when John Howard dies
2. when Rupert Murdoch dies, and
3. when Richmond 3-peat.

would be great if I could have it all done by December, and clean up.

From the Age, in relation to Arcare Maidstone, words attributed to Arcare's CEO:

He said as of Sunday morning, there were no other cases of COVID-19 in any of their other residences, and they had limited the movement of staff members between facilities since the lockdown started."

F UCKING WHAT?

The Victorian Treasurer has rightly absolutely teed off on the Feds. All talk, no substance. What an absolute disgrace.
Disagree. Blameshifting incompetent Vic govt to pushing the narrative away disguising & hiding their constant failures.

45 Billion given to Vic to date. Quick to put the hand out too & stick the knife into Feds

Not Feds fault in this instance imo.

Then also remember after the Feds pumping money out to support business for months on end, Labor started on Libs about their spending (re debt) .FFS too. Pathetic politics. Now they want more spending.

We'll all blv what we want. Cant see anyone here convincing changing each others views.

I for one hope this Vic State govt is kicked out on mass.

My wife and I got the first shot today. Took about 25 mins in the phone to get through and she found a slot today. Took about an hour or so from getting in to walking out. I got AZ, so may develop the chills and stuff the way Ant did, but I didn’t even feel the needle going in.

From talking to friends and family, the length of time before the chills varies from 12 hours to several days. But I hope you and Mrs Carn avoid it altogether.

Mrs. Ridley had AZ on Wednesday. No real side effects. I’m up on Friday.

Agree. But I do think we have the worst combo in Governments hence we keep being shafted.

Why have just refused help from the NSW government with help on contact tracing?

Yeah, that the bs narrative imo at the moment. Plenty of vaccine to go around but now people are panicking with reality checks.

But the real narrative imo is that we wouldn't be in this mess if communcation between States was on the ball. This lockdown would not have occured if SA contacted Vic immediately as they did the return traveller who immediately isolated. No contacting airlines or other passengers. Airlines took ages to give the manifest to Vic.

vic wasnt aware till 2 days later FFS. HOW the F is the Feds responsible is utter bs talk on this lockdown.

2ndly
vic contract tracing is crap. Other states actually offered to help send teams down. Oh no.. rejected. Wont take on experience, they'll hire unqualified uni students. So more delays. Yeah feds responsible for that i imagine will be said.

Stupid state egos & politics are causing issues imo. Correct that we might get into 2nd gear.

Still fears on AZ that stalled things for about a month. Adjustments made. Slow roll out might have saved lives.

Each to their own. Plenty of my family dont want it. I did but i wont push my vaccine views on getting onto anyone.

The only positive thing this lockdown /outbreak has done is push quite a number of people to get the jab. Great. As a country we are still in a good position. I dont have any issue with a slow roll out atm. But others do.. fine

Good post shoe-salesman.

Agree on plenty of that, but the faster we vax the faster we open up. We could even open up ahead of the current SloMo schedule. Tourism industry will thank us.

This needs some context, what jobs are the recruiting for? and what jobs were offered by other states?

as far as I have seen there have been no issues with contact tracing, other that the contact tracers believing a person and their corresponding receipt about which woolies they went to. the problem has been the length of time people have been in the community while potentially infectious.

It is a fact that state governments wanted to control the roll out of vaccinations and were told to butt out by the Feds.

The states wanted the Feds to only control supply and procurement, Morrison wanted the glory.

Agree on that too. Im not pro Feds. I just try to assess the fact less political spin & base my views on that. Try to pick the small facts out of big political statements.

Heard that too.
Also Libs wanting to put logos on rollout campaign. That was a joke imo. Stupid.

Also States wanted to control HQ too. Got it
Now they preach the constitution and blame Feds when they stuff up. So I dont blame the Feds not giving them control. I get it.

Agree with other views too that Feds should have gotten off their backsides instead of being complacent and built Q-facitlies by now like NT in every state. They are not blameless in my eyes either,. Ive said it before, they have the right ideas, but fail to communicate and implement it, go for stupid political glory.

I finally saw an ad today, in the paper, encouraging us all to get the vaccine. Must have missed previous ads because we get the paper every day.

My, what a rubbish ad. Very defensive, too wordy, barely noticeable and generally very forgettable.

FFS someone needs to engage a better ad agency. The ads we see from the UK and US are far better. We have done some great public health campaigns in the past, clearly the talent exists here, time to get a decent campaign going to get everyone vaccinated ASAP.
