Coronavirus

I can't remember not remembering that.

Sure you can't.

Anyway, I'll make it easy for you. Pick one.

Scomo and the feds achieving 25% of their March 2021 vaccine rollout goal is:

(a) great, they've done a fantastic job - making us all safer and opening the economy sooner is irrelevant
(b) it's ok, they've done fine and anyway it doesn't affect me personally so I don't care and can't admit they are incompetent
(c) no opinion, I'm too cowardly not to sit on the fence
(d) it stinks and even though I'd prefer to never say anything against our supreme leader I can't stay silent any longer

It's not great but like I said earlier, you'd think ScoMo was pinching your noses and depriving you of air. It's just an excuse to rant.

I could understand a little if you're an addicted jetsetter angry that the government forbids you to travel somewhere more COVID-affected than Australia.

I'd say the vaccine rollout is pretty important and the faster the better, given your interest in the whole area I'm surprised you don't agree. You are extremely quick to criticise Labor in Victoria, and individuals who travel as putting us all at risk. Why is it so hard to admit that the Vaccine rollout has been extremely disappointing to date?

I'm not suprised you find it impossible to criticise ScoMo or the Feds as it's some sort of bizarre point of pride with you, but to be honest it just makes you look hypocritical.

Look how easy it is to do - Dan and Labor and the contract tracers and VicHealth have made mistakes, they've admitted it and as a card-carrying leftie I can admit it too.

A man who can never admit he's wrong, even though he knows and everyone else knows he's wrong, just ends up looking a fool.

Ha, I've let Dan off the hook since he died. I haven't said boo about the lockdown. To me it's a federal government failure to let people in. The cost is far too great relative to the benefit. But you lot scream blue murder at any hint of anyone's rights being infringed.

The vaccination program is low on my list of priorities. You can ask ScoMo to explain the roadmap to you if you like; for me, it's enough to know that "mid-2022" is the scheduled re-opening. While the virus is rampant, I'm happy enough to keep it out. If you're desperate for it to happen sooner, you need to take it up with government. Maybe organise a protest.

And for someone who is pretty clued up on the whole Covid thing, that's bizarre.

The only possible conclusion is that you have a massive blindspot when it comes to our federal government and you are prepared to sacrifice reality for political expediency.

It would go to the top of my priority list if they said we are opening up on date X. But it's not something I have any influence over.

None of us have any real influence over any of this so that's irrelevant. It's just an excuse you make because you don't want to acknowledge federal government failures in this area.

They're behind schedule, that much is obvious. It's just not very important to me. Everyone that wants to be vaccinated will be covered eventually, including me. I'm just not in any rush. If I get the virus in the meantime, it's on my head.

So the economy being harmed by a stray traveller possibly reintroducing Covid was incredibly triggering to you, but you are completely OK with the economy experiencing a massive opportunity cost through opening up way later than what would be possible if we had an effective vaccination program.

Just received a government text that there are exposure site nearby. Great. Checked okay. Eastern subs

here is the current list
Thanks for that mention Wantirna is only place in East I could see other Burwood East Which has been on list for a few days. Boy there are a lot of people who have to quarantine for 14 days regardless of test result. Not leaving home for Any reason?

Well said!

As soon as cases started coming up, I could see nunerous people wearing masks everywhere even before being mandatory with the lockdown. People getting tested and isolating (14K was reported) in their droves. People were taking noticable precaution already & conscious of it from what I had noticed.
Age had data that on Wednesday CBD foot traffic was down 60% on previous week . The populace acting of own accord. (Though they all seemed to be at my local shops yesterday)

There was one in Bayswater as well.

Anyone else getting angry at the people who are protesting and complaining about lockdowns, and at the same time refusing, or are too belligerent to get vaccinated ?

In other words, the action that will grossly limit or prevent further lockdowns is the one that many of these complainers won't take. The idiocy and self defeating nature of these people is truly astounding.

Many haven't had a chance yet, but I don't wanna hear from anyone - friend or otherwise - complaints about lockdowns if they haven't been vaccinated when they've either had ample chance to, or worse, are refusing.
How many days after becoming eligible do you think is reasonable to get vaccinated?

It's the cost to business and the inconvenience of people being forced to stay home. It's entirely preventable if the government took a hard line. Not "incredibly triggering" at all, but I'm sure the rights people like yourself would be triggered if the government said nobody's coming in.

I think the government will open up just as soon as it's practicable, but you seem to think they are delaying in order to send the country broke. Which one of us is more likely to be right?

If you're in 1a (22nd February) or 1b (22nd March) then apart from a supply/access issue, you should already be vaccinated. Many still have not unfortunately.

I would think those people in those categories have had "reasonable" time don't you ?

No, they are delaying because they've stuffed the vaccination program and now they are using the 2022 date as an excuse for failing in that key initiative. If that went faster, we could open up sooner.

Of course the opportunity cost nationally to tourism, hospitality and education is "cost to business" of a much higher degree than that caused by a 7 day lockdown, but hey, you don't want to acknowledge that. I wonder why.

If you'd read the link that I posted earlier (Reuters, no Murdoch), the budget states that all willing Australians will have had the vaccine by the end of 2021, almost in the same breath as saying we will re-open six months later.

I'm certain the government is not waiting an extra six months arbitrarily.

You are just teeing off because you feel like it. You'll run out of golf balls soon.

The budget is from the same people who predicted we would have vaccinated 12 million by now, we are only at 3 million. You can't bring yourself to admit the Feds and ScoMo have totally ballsed this up. that's OK. Cognitive dissonance is a b1tch for you, I understand.

Anyway, I'm sure everyone else here is over this part of the discussion so let's move on.
