It’s inevitable. It will spread. Victoria‘s humidity is the worst type, it’s colder here, and there’s less sunlight. Once the virus gets in, it’s going to spread.
Now you’re thinking well they should’ve done better at stopping the virus from getting in. But to do that, you need knowledge. We don’t have the knowledge because researchers worldwide have been significantly underfunded for decades.
During peaceful times, every rich country should’ve been investing far more into scientific research IMO. Oh well.
Melbourne’s top researchers aren’t surprised in the slightest about what we’re seeing. Worldwide, researchers have been warning governments about this for years. But it’s not something the voters want, so it’s not something the politicians sell. That’s the root of the problem of politicians running around like headless chooks IMO
Makes me wonder: how can democratic countries ever make unpopular, long-term, expensive decisions that are overwhelmingly in the people’s best interests but are incapable of being understood well enough by the majority of the people to ever be something they would vote for?
