Coronavirus

For once I'm going to agree with Lee, 12 months as opposed to say rolling 3 or 6 months is a bad look morale wise. Andrews is overreaching here.

Maybe, but I think Andrews is mostly straight-up and was trying to make a clear decision as opposed to a "popular" one. Isn't that what we all want from our pollies? An end to posturing and preening and rhetorical circle-jerks on QandA?

I notice yesterday that SCOMO and Freydenberg couldn't help but to score political points in regards to aged care in Victoria. The argument they used is both a statement of fact and completely irrelevant at the same time.
They said that there was a reason why there were no issues in aged care in all states except for Victoria and that's because there were large numbers of COVID cases in Victoria. Whilst that is true using that as a reason for their failures to prepare and react in the private aged care sector is just nonsense. It's the same diversion tactic used by Trump .... "don't blame me it's China's fault"
They may as well have said don't blame any of us because we didn't eat the pangolin

Similar number to yesterday so looks like the number of new infections is down, but not out.

Hopefully the next few weeks of Stage 4 restrictions will get it down further and we can relax a little, and go further than 5KM occasionally.

How's the hide of Wang Xining saying the virus didn't originate in China at today's press club presentation..

Well if the virus didn't start in China you'd think they'd be only too happy for an enquiry to prove it.
Me thinks they protesteth too much.

I would say that there is a high correlation between places with high comuntity transmission and high aged care infections.

Dan plays politics in his announcemens every day. It's "private" aged care but never for example "state run Public hospital under J Mikakos ministerial responsibility " Frankston is rife with cases.

The fact that the greatest publc health system in the free world has cases galore in its hospital staff demonstrates that all the talent, knowledge, commitment, equipment, qualifications and high staffing levels is not enough to prevent contamination.

No Dan fan obviously but the sabre-rattling over current lockdown conditions is reaching unhealthy levels. Getting a bit tetchy myself after months in the house but I appreciate the need to get on top of this thing. Come on people, just a few more weeks of doing the right thing and we'll have earned a reprieve. Anarchy will bring us all down.

As I said, that there is a correlation between rates of aged care cases and the level of cases in the community is stating a fact. It is however not related to whether our aged care sector was and is prepared.

My post was about ScoMo and Frydenberg and it was not a comparison with the premier. We should call out all such behaviour.

Gee, politicking over the State of Emergency, who'd have thought. The pollies will obviously be looking at when this will end and how they can gain some advantage out of the whole thing and when to time the return to business as usual, which means the usual tweedledum and tweedledee arguing over tiny differences in the extent of their neo-liberal economic fundamentalism - yawn fest.

At least the new infection numbers seem to be heading in the right direction, that last reduction, and the reduction in active cases, is likely to be difficult.

COVID19 7 day ave 27082020.jpg

Changed the graph so it goes until mid September, so it is a little compressed on the horizontal scale.

The 2 averages are looking good and at levels not seen since early July.

Didn’t know where to post this so I thought I would post it here because Former Premier Jeff Kennett not just talks about his change of mind to run for another term as president but other things that matter for Victorians.
You can tell in his voice there is a lot of feeling, concern for Victorians coming out of Covid.

Have a listen.
