Every state had A BLM rally. Whatever your views on the subject of the rallie or the protest itself why has it caused this spike in Victoria but no other state?

I saw a graph comparing emerging economy countries v developed. Emerging rising sharply, developed falling by same gradient.

Maybe there were more carriers at the Melbourne protest? Maybe there are more Victorians with mild symptoms who are getting around without getting themselves tested?

I’d almost laugh if the MP’s who flippantly claimed it was safe to march, introduced it to parliament. Darwin Award worthy.

There is no evidence that the BLM rally has caused the spike we have at the moment.

The organisers of the BLM protest handed out hand sanitiser and face masks.

Trump is organising a rally this week, in a state with rising cases, what is he handing out? Why, a legal document anyone attending has to sign to say they can't sue Trump or his campaign if they get COVID19.

Of course the righties here have not been outraged by Trump inviting tens of thousands to a 7 hour (going by previous Trump rallies) indoor event with no social distancing. That's fine 'cos Trump is the President the world needs.

Given the rate of positive tests in Victoria is lower than the national average (0.3% as opposed to 0.4% for the country as a whole) and that is on the back of high testing rates in Victoria the evidence points to this not being the case.

But evidence is not something the right like, the real world doesn't fit their preconceived prejudices.

That is clear to me that the protest hasn’t helped our cause.
Any mass gatherings, protests no matter the reason are unbelievably selfish. For you to say otherwise puts you in the Trump category of supporters and BLM protesters in the USA who are too self centred to care about anyone else.

Why are Victorians with mild symptoms less likely to get tested than people from other states?

You tell me what's wrong with us. We've certainly shown we are more willing to take corona to our workplace and start a cluster. One of the clusters is walking distance from my house and it has been confirmed that the spreader attended the protest.

No evidence the H&M worker was infectious when at the rally, no evidence anyone has caught it at the rally. Assertions without evidence are just that: assertions, in fact, baseless assertions.

Victoria has had 1,817 test positive in a population of around 5.7 million.

Trump is about to hold an indoor rally, without face masks, in Oklahoma which has 4 million people and has had 9,706 cases.

Yet still the right run around waving their hands in panic about the BLM protest in Melbourne and are silent on the Trump rally.

Pretty silly comparison, Lee is comparing Victoria to other states, not the USA. Think you'll find Lee is similarly against the Trump rally, only that the care factor is lower because it is a lot further from where he resides.

The US has suffered too many casualties and is too deep in the sh!t to beat it back. But conducting a public rally of any description isn't smart, even with supposed precautions. We don't go in for those rah-rah political congregations here. The cult of personality is not as deeply entrenched.

But holding a re-election rally is what a true leader does in these times. The leader the world needs right now.

From afar it seemed like Vic got ahead of itself. Segments of the population ranting about needing to return to normality. Sam Newman and his ilk staging protests to play golf, pressure from the AFL to allow the season to kick off. Not taking a harder stance against the Anti-Vaxxer and BML protesters.

You reap what you sow

Surprised Dan has allowed golf to continue given its the source of the spike.

Apparently Dan is telling today’s climate protesters to go home. Bit late, pal.

IIRC he didn't approve the first rally. And if you've been to a shopping centre recently you'd realise that people in general are very complacent because the behaviour in general has not changed.

He gave the green light to protesters by giving a guarantee they would not be fined. Then made a show of trying to backtrack at the last minute when he knew it was too late.

I'm consciously holding back on what I really think of the protesters and Dan Andrews in the name of civility. If I posted what I believe it'd make your eyes bleed.
