Coronavirus

Wasn’t though a directive of NSW not to inforce this so Border Security just let them go?

But they have to hold some fault her too, Border Security that is.
I think yr right about nsw W.. and this is where the machine breaks down... state to state... surely in these Circumstances you’d think common sense might have prevailed ...

More important than sport. My 2 nieces are starting to go bonkers as they can't visit my mum.....and more....

Anxiety is affecting humans worse than this f*cking virus.

TF if you can spare an hour view this and tell me that the anxiety of obeying a few rules, (although harsh), is worse than the virus:confused::

I stopped in Bali on the way home and had temperature taken at airport both ways, hotels and restaurants.

Got to Australia and nothing.

You are not allowed to leave travel isolation for food or exercise.

There was no temperature taken at the airport because everyone had to go home straight away for 14 days quarantine. If you had a temperature, you went home, if you didn't have a temperature, you went home.

Damn has this been a tough week for a couple of my very good friends as the reality of this starts to kick in. Businesses at a standstill & questioning how they'll continue. Scared is the word used. :(

Generally speaking

Did they have valid passports/visas/Oz citizenship = Border Force
Did they try to import illicit goods = Border Force

Do they have a communicable disease (Coronavirus) = Biosecurity officers - Department of health

I understand this post was a crack at the federal government. I am interested to know why the only one being blamed is Scomo.

Yet despite this information he proceeds to hold the t20 womens final with 80,000 in attendance and then says the grand prix is going ahead (300,000 attendees?) only for the drivers/teams to force the cancellation. And Dan is roundly praised for his sound leadership? These were monumental blunders if judging under the same principles.

That was the weekend before Scotty told everyone he was going to the footy to see his Sharkies & his mate held a massive Hillsong do.
Morrison rightly cops it. He's the leader of the country. Your hypocrisy is astounding.

He gets lucky a lot, almost like he has some sixth (common?) sense and good judgement.

Maybe its actually look at solving the question in front of you rather than trying to figure out you or your key constituents can leverage the situation to make a buck.
So no comment on his decision making despite his knowledge of the looming crisis?

just another dig at the other side?

Another reply with no reference to my point but time for another shot at the other side.

the initial reference was the government knew the seriousness of the threat but didn’t act quickly enough. They were aware back in Jan. of the looming crisis Yet failed to make decisions then that would have helped us now.

if that was the case why did Andrews allow 80000 people to get together in March? Why did he want 300000 at the Grand Prix? And how many at surrounding pubs/restaurants etc afterwards? It was only called off after the teams effectively pulled out, not because dan told them to. Crowds were lined up at the gate at 10am still not knowing if it was going ahead? holding that event would have been a disaster. Yet dan was willing to proceed despite all his knowledge of the looming crisis?

all governments have failed in various ways yet dan has dodged the biggest bullet of all. No doubt dan was putting $ in front of lives.

Our GOVT & States made initial errors calculating the seriousness of what was happening around the world and react in a way we have questioned.

Scott & Dan ( for us Victorians) have really I feel stood up with initiatives , plans & purpose to get us through this.

Whether it’s 2.3 or 6 months we don’t know.

Peak period hasn’t hit yet.

People have a voice (free speech) and their opinions are listened too & debates ( can be done on another thread ) but at this point I would rather ( even though I lost my job ) in our situation , then countries who were slow, didn’t realise the seriousness of the situation unfolding, were ignorant to calls from W.H.O. ( even though they weren’t great initially especially against Aus ) who are and have seen their cases go through the roof and death into 10’s thousands with other countries to see those figures.

Or countries who have taken some drastic measures to have their citizens adhere to their requests.

Or countries you need to carry paperwork allowing you out of your home & reasons for it!

Just my thoughts!

Off to do some exercise. In my garage!

Take care people. Take these measures seriously and look after your family & your parents .

So lets assume Dan the man was aware of this (like all government ministers would have been), 12 weeks prior to this interview. So say start of January he was aware of the magnitude.

Like many governments he was slow to recognise the danger, but has been pretty good since the Grand Prix withdrawals forced his hand. We've been lucky. Australia, the lucky country. So far.

the CSIRO knew about the virus in November and had cultured it in December. their warnings fell on deaf ears in November, not January. these same scientists are now leading the vaccine development for the world..

I don't think that's possible. The virus wasn't declared until December 31 and the genetic sequence was published in January.

Exactly LTRTR!

Yes they are leading the fight now as are others but the timeline of events wasn’t in November!
