Coronavirus

Wow 600 confirmed sick and 7 dead directly linked to the Ruby Princess. Has the person that made the decision to release those people from the ship been fired?

If it was the fault of the cruiseline, are we as a country going to sue them?
Border Farce / Customs - their fault... they are the frontline of admissions into the country

Just read this tweet and I'm astounded. Only some are taking temperatures and it makes the news? Temperature checking at every place I've entered for the last 1 or more has been mandatory. Bars. Restaurants, Stores, Hospitals, Schools etc. School kids have had morning temperature checks for about 2 months now, before they can enter the school ground.

Last night we went out for dinner (we still can, just numbers can't be over 10). At the door they took our temperature. Once inside we filled in contact form details (have you had temperature, cough, on a SHN etc) before we were shown to our table.

Aus still doesn't have some of the basics in place.

I've just been down to the local shops to get some essential items& was amazed at the amount of people (of all ages) that were'nt wearing masks &/or gloves.
I'm just getting over a bout of bronchitis so I wore both gloves & mask, I was surprised at the number of funny looks I got.
I reckon some people are embarrassed to wear the PPE. the World Health Org have just said it’s the best thing we can do..

Apparently 59 returned Victorian travellers were not at home when checked yesterday. Duterte would be having none of this.

Some could've been getting food or exercise, but not all. Should be punished appropriately for 'conduct endangering life'.

The reason the Gov't say you don't need to wear PPE masks is they want to save for scarce stock for frontline workers.

When I go to supermarket I wear disposable latex gloves and an old paper thin face mask, (probably useless), as you cannot access surgical or P2 masks anywhere.

In Asian countries every person seems to wear them and no shortage there.

This is New Zealand's stage 4 (activated).
  • Everyone has to stay at home, except those providing essential services (a short list includes medicine, healthcare, food, fuel, waste removal, internet and financial support). Trips to supermarkets/convenience stores and pharmacies are allowed, and people can exercise, but everyone must stay local.
  • People should only make physical contact with those that they live with.
  • Takeaway services are closed. Convenience stores are not allowed to sell food prepared on premises and must operate on a “one in, one out” basis. Groceries can be delivered, but not pre-cooked food.
  • All places where people congregate, such as cafes and playgrounds, are closed.
  • Social gatherings such as birthdays and weddings cannot go ahead. Funerals can continue, but only people from the same “self-isolation bubble” as the deceased person can go to the funeral home and cemetery, and only if they’re in the same region.
  • All schools and early childhood education centres are closed. Essential workers are asked to make their own childcare arrangements, but if they can’t, alternative arrangements will be made.
  • Most medical consultations will be over the phone or by video conference.

So how does a restaurant still operate where(ever) you live?

But yet again today we see hundreds of selfish ******** on the northern beaches of Sydney completely ignoring the social distancing directives.

Geez this country is full of selfish and self indulgent arseholes. WTF do these people not get about the current situation

Can only hope they cop the full whack of the virus.

It needs to work here or else we will end up like other places in Europe and the USA. Until there is a vaccine social distancing is the only method available to try and contain the virus. People just need to suck it up and stop being selfish arseholes. Do you want to see an Italy, Spain or New York scenario in Australia?

I don't.
Its pretty simple. Surely the only thing people need to consider is it is their parents/grandparents that they could be killing?

Its not that hard, we are way too spoilt. Spend some time at home with your kids, talk to people more on the phone. Get out of your own selfish thoughts. Ring an older person/acquaintance. Check on them. Contact an old school friend. Zoom or skype interstate or international family. There's so many things we can do now we have the time.

Stage 4 has me at a cross roads. We are an essential service in that the company I manage supplies ventilation and filtration products that hospitals will need. If we stay open though, we will surely be broke. That market cannot sustain us. It’s a pickle.

Edit: market

I thought we were supposed to get 100,000 cases by today.....

I know what you're saying Riddles, just think 6 months is way too long.
What r you missing out on? Sport? What else? Its selfish *smile* lik

Yeh why are people taking this so seriously? Giving up all our liberties such as Bill's golf and your birthday parties I mean what an affront to personal freedom! And all to save a few old geezers who are probably gonna die soon anyway?

It's all a sneaky power grab by governments everywhere!

Stage 4 will be the death of many businesses just surviving now. We would not need stage 4 if people did the right thing.
