Coronavirus

51% of australians over 18 thought scott morrison would be the best man to lead our nation.

So ive lowered my expectations of australians significantly.

Every 10 non-richmond people i meet, i expect 5 to be self interested or pretty stupid

being pleasantly surprised is heaps easier on the soul than being bitterly dissapointed
You should write a memoirs
Selfishly I hope you caught it at the Golf Club and NOT the cricket because I were sitting with you at a table in the London after the cricket.

My nephew tested positive today and is in a household of 5 so they will all be isolating for the next 7 days at least and probably expecting it to run through them. Were due to go over to their place for my mum's 88th birthday so dodged a bullet there.

Long term there is no way of avoiding it unfortunately.

If you knew there was NO chance of re-infection after contracting it I almost feel now would be the ideal time for me to get it as it is 3 weeks post my Booster so I should be at the peak of my powers?

I am in no rush to test this theory though.
If I picked it up at the cricket , I wonder how quick I can then pass it on ? Or simply how long is it before it can transfer

Can't defend the Vic ALP govt here Ian. Clearly complicit and still have the power to prevent him entering the state.

While I agree that the Victorian Government likely has some ability to prevent Novax playing in the Aus Open, legally, I very much doubt that the Victorian Government can prevent him from entering Victoria. The first step is for Novax to enter Australia, clearly a Federal responsibility and, given the constitution specifically stipulates that cross border trade must not be hindered, I doubt that they would have the power. That said, the restrictions on travel between states has been challenged during COVID and was not disallowed so they must have some power.

All in all it is a sh!tshow and I do wonder what pressure was brought to bear any by whom. I suspect the international tennis mob (whoever they are) may have threatened the Aus Open and likely some other pressure on top. Also, I am not convinced Novax has not had the vax, the language used in the announcements is that he has an exemption and can come and play - is it a medical exemption? No idea, maybe the exemption is just exempting him from making public his vaccination status.

Anyway, everyone should go out and get vaccinated, booster yesterday for me and I'm feeling fine (wish I could say the same for my back which is killing me :( ).

The Vic govt or tennis Australia can simply have a rule that you must be double vaxxed to play. Anyone who works at the Open must be double vaxxed. It why Liam Jones has retired.

I've been pretty supportive of the Vic ALP but this is shithouse.

A lot of jumping to conclusions about roles of Governments in the Djokovic decision.
Fact is none of us know why he was given an exemption and there is no way that we are going to be told but what we could be told is what are the criteria for an exemption. I know that the criteria for an exemption in the health system was so narrow that if the same one was used for the tennis players then he could not have got one because if he qualified he could not possibly train like he does.
The only criteria I can think of is that he has had COVID in the recent past but I doubt that very much.
So i get that Tennis Australia can’t tell us the reason for his exemption so just tell us what the criteria for an exemption is.

I reckon the media should just run a story that Novax is vaxxed and see if he denies it.

I picked the most isolated table i could at the London little did I know that you may be the danger ;)

Think I would have got it by now if you had back on Tuesday that was a week ago.

Not sure why everyone is upset at Novak. He's not the one applying the double standard rules.

Exemptions
Acute illness or likely to require urgent surgery
Previous severe reaction to a covid vax
Recent proven covid infection in the last six months
Mental health disorder where self harm or similar likely

So the only possible one is recent infection in the last six months. .
He was infected in the first half of last year..so 8 months minimum.

Can only assume some one has certified that he was reinfected more recently.. possible .

Decision made by team of medics blind to who is applying.
Legally correct but morally bankrupt decision.

Meanwhile in QLD: If you feel unwell don't go and get tested, just assume you have COVID and stay home.

That's because you can't get into a testing centre, can't get a RAT, and your PCR test would likely come back in a week anyway. Stopped updating exposure sites, pinging people, not using check-in data. Palace Chuck has given up the ghost. Queensland is like a syphilitic monarch turning his back on his bastardry. Get away from me you filthy unwashed.

No one from my work wants to go into the office at all - everyone working from home. Guess we need a chance for the rules to catch up with the situation.
