Coronavirus

A data point is better than no data point !!! And anyway the difference between 30,000 cases a day or 40,000 a day or in that sort of range doesn’t mean much as your base reference.

But a base reference of NIL does !!!
Completely correct. It's not just a matter of getting a good estimate of the numbers infected. It's also vitally important to get an estimate of the uncertainty of the estimate. We do this all the time in numerical weather and ocean prediction. Even bad observations can be useful so long as we know how good or bad they are. No doubt the epidemiologists have similar systems.

The folks are over from Tas (staying at sisters) and meant go to Ocean Grove for holiday on Thurs for a week...sigh. Kids devastated.

Also had booster booked for tomoz :( Timing is everything...
There are two PCR testing sites out my way...unsure how busy.
1 Mooroolbark..Lakeside Drive...Probably busy.
2 Healesville. ....1 .Badger Creek Rd ...this is usually very quiet. It is not always open and you would need to check on this.
If it is open you would have no issues, but obviously a drive for you...
Just looked it up....
Open Wednesday 9.30 to 11.30. Get there at 9 ish and would expect a quick turnaround.

Spot on. Case numbers are the primary data source. Everything else - hospitalisations, deaths, ICU etc - are all derivatives of it.

And a derivative is meaningless unless you know what the primary source that it’s being derived from is.

Hope you’re ok Nobet Pays.

You’re now the second person I know who reckons they picked it up at the Ashes. There really should have been density limits and/or spacing provisions put in place at that thing. Ditto other events.

Anyway, they’re as usual, belatedly coming. Looks like density limits in pubs, restaurants, events, cancellations of elective surgeries etc will all be introduced in the next few days to try and smooth out the transmission rate and not blow up Victoria’s services and infrastructure via the current rate.

Should have been done a week ago.
Yeah I'm Ok cheers mate, little bit fatigued and annoying cough but ok other than that.

Could have picked it up at game outside but more likely in AFL members inside bar for final session or cricketers arms upstairs beer garden for an hr or so post game.

Timing with holidays/kids etc more annoying than what virus is physically causing so far tbh.

I'm in Forest Hill so not ridiculous. Dare say likely be quicker than trying to find one locally anyhow.

Thanks!

My partners’ parents went to get tested last week. 15 minutes. Just roll up. No appointment needed. Ok they live in Bendigo but cmon …it’s only 90 mins away !

Pop in at the Rifle after if you test negative.

Novax gets a medical exemption. I wonder who granted him that? Money talks.
Could get an interesting reception from the Melbourne crowd, if they turn up to watch him.

What is a Medical Exemption? As in what qualifies for one? He's had Covid, so it it the fact he has antibodies?

This is going to be fun to watch. Every anti-vax nutter now trying to get into the Aus Open to cheer everything Djoker does. While the rest of the crowd, sick to death of all the restrictions Melbourne has endured, while hate the fact he's here and give him a hard time.

Only a page ago we were angrily lamenting the fact that the unvaccinated are primarily responsible for the drain on our healthcare staff and services, and here we are letting this ahole into the country.

Agree. Go Rafa.

'Who let him into Australia?' probably.

FFS Australians not vaccinated can't even enter a restaurant but an unvaccinated bloke from Serbia who just happens to whack a tennis ball well?
No problem mate into the country you come!
Surely must have been approved by the Clown of Canberra.

All this does is further undermine the health message. Absolute hypocrisy asking people now not to enter anywhere.

If I was an Australian antivaxxer I'd be seriously pissed off with the Feds. Imagine losing your job here because you're not vaxxed & then seeing this joker waltz into the country?
