Letsroar said:How does Thomas & Stephenson being upgraded to the main list at the start of the season impact on the number of positions available?
Letsroar said:Does that mean with these two going back to the rookie list, Jackson and king retiring and miles upgraded that we have 3 places on the main list before we do anything
Rancey18 said:Dont we have an extra spot left on our list? I recall reading that we went into the season one short on our list, which is what allowed us to immediately upgrade two rookies at Round 1 this year.
Just had a read of the rules - I think we could upgrade two due to something to do with the Nominated Veterans, so you are probably rightbuenavista said:I don't believe so, I think we went in with a full list. You may be thinking about the Rookie List.
EDIT: Just checked, we went in with a full list of Rookies too (6)

I believe Petterd was given until the end of 2015 when we promoted him from rookie to main list.year of the tiger said:From those lists I reckon only Gordon, Lloyd, Bach and Pettard (if he is not contracted) would be feeling safe' ish.
Also hoping for Elton and McDonough to also get a 12 month extensions.
The others I not so confident about
mrposhman said:So as we have now trimmed the list, what do people think we will do with the spots? Just kids? Look at free agency or bring some delisted players in?
I suspect it will be a mix of both.
Whilst I don't think he;s a world beater, it may be a good option to go for someone like Shaun Higgins from the Bulldogs. A bit quicker than what we've got and it essentially a plug and play, no need to develop him from scratch. I'd like to see us bring in another forward or ruck (imperative if we trade TV) and theres a few cheaper options. Membrey may well leave Sydney this year, or on a slightly different tack, maybe Shaun McKernan (just delisted by the Crows) may be worth a rookie spot. Would certainly prefer a 24 year old tall on the rookie list than someone like Orren, as at least there is some potential upside there.
I reckon we should draft 3 or 4 kids for sure whether from the ND or in the rookie draft as we need to bring a few more kids in within this age bracket and develop them through the VFL team.
Definitely pace required, but looking at the list, I'm pretty happy that we've got rid of most of the fat that we've been carrying.
