Probably managed to earn it by somehow being amongst our better players most weeks.Harry said:how shedwards got an extension is still mind boggling.
Yeah, Batch is worth keeping on for at least another season, but you want to use the longer terms to lock up the better players.Tigertool said:He's done enough for a 1 year.
Kaelan said:and Morris in the rarefied air of a 4 year extension. Will be on the prune juice by the time his contract expires

mrposhman said:I would think the players that are out of contract may well be in the following buckets (in my mind they are anyway ;D)
Re-sign
Astbury
Griffiths
Batchelor
McBean
Delistings / retirements
King
A Edwards
Helbig
O'Hanlon
Stephenson - off the rookie list
Banfield - off the rookie list
Unsure / still up fo grabs
McIntosh - Not been with us that long, may be worth a rollover of a year
Elton - Will he make it? Been with us a while and doesn't appear to be getting consideration for the first team, worth perservering with?
Dea - Same as Elton
Arnott - I like him but essentially same as the above 2
Newman - Still required? Not sure. I know at the moment, he's on the veterans list so he doesn't take up a spot and we get an extra allowance in the salary cap, 50/50 on him, depends when the veterans allowance changes
McDonough - Same as above, not sure if he's a half back, maybe keep and play him forward as he has recently been in the VFL
Williams - Keep on rookie list for another year?
Darrou - Same as Williams
Plenty of question marks still out there.
Thats 4 off the main list, which Miles will definately take one of those spots. I hope Thomas is left on the rookie list for the time being, if we get a good midfielder in the draft he may not be required as a mainstay and could clog the list but a good backup.
That will free up 3 spots on the main list and 3 on the rookie list with 8 players with question marks. My guess is we will keep at least half of them, it would be unlikely we will have a massive overhaul, my guess is there will be another 2 from that list of unsures that leave but I wouldn't know which ones they will be.
The other thing they could do is add to the veterans list, I think both Foley and Jacko are eligible, but they can bank some of these savings for going hard at a free agent the next year so thats also possible.
Macintosh has a huge upside and is a must keep until we see for sure. He's a good size and seems to move well in the limited time he's been fit.mrposhman said:I would think the players that are out of contract may well be in the following buckets (in my mind they are anyway ;D)

He should be kept for sure. Has show. Good potential at afl level and is unlucky not to have got more games to try and establish himself in the team. Has good pace which is something we need. Let's not make this another white situation plzzzSintiger said:Rumours have been around that McDonough wanted to go back at SA but personally would like him to stay.
