Contract List

Given that Edwards is contracted until 2019, surely there is a strong case to shop him around at a lower trade pick, just to move him on. OK we have made a mistake, but he might be a good top up for a team that is close to a flag. He is a proven frontrunner, which is an asset in a strong side, but we will be grafting wins next year and that is not his strong suit.
We will win a flag when Edwards is ranked between 18 - 22 on our list. He is a B- when the pressure is on

In my opinion, the next Tigers' flag won't feature Edwards. He won't be on the list when the next premiership eventuates.

We seem to have been light on for delistings

Aside from the finals teams, we're on the bottom of the ladder again with just 2. Panic. Soft.

I'm not sure what your point is TF. It's not a competition. You don't win a prize for delisting the most players first.

I agree, we still have a significant number who are out of contract. People just love to bag the club but IMO holding on to players and seeing if we can trade them is the smart thing the club should be doing. If we can't trade them on, then we delist them after the trade period.

Why the rush with McBean then?

I guess they thought he had no trade value whatsoever.

Just saying we're slow to delist players we don't need compared to other clubs who act quicker. No competition involved, just comparison of figures. We got rid of Beano really quick and all of a sudden stopped. Maybe we have too many B & C grade players making it difficult to decide who to keep or delist.

Why would we trade players who are more likely to be delisted? We haven't heard/read any fact or even rumour on any team asking for someone except for Vickery who is definitely more on the trade level than delist level.

It would be more than a guess. We'd hold onto a player that had value, or even if we were happy to get rid of but another club wanted them we would "trade" them for a throw away pick in the 90s or whatever.

Rarely do the early delisted get another AFL gig, unless it's as a rookie

I think the concern WT is that we won't be delisting anyone else

The RFC brains-trust (is that an oxymoron?) obviously held no rating/value for McBean, otherwise they would have held him up for trade if at all possible.
McBean should go and join Paul Hudson's Zebras in the VFL.
