Connors

Perhaps. Giansiracusa took a heap last year after not playing that role at all during his career. Maybe someone like Newman or Houli could be converted. Both certainly have the footskills to hurt teams that let them.

Connors, Titch, Jack and Vickery can be a very effective forward combination, with King or Nahas + a resting Cotch/Lids/Dusty. Connors' absence of a right side will continue to frustrate me, but he will take the third tall defender and make it very hard for them.

I hope he turns the corner this year. While his disposal was awful yesterday, he will be better for the run.

Yeah the big thing for Condog will be his fitness ILO. The wet & slow slog suited him yesterday.

Because he lacks a yard of pace He'll need to build to be top 10 at the club aerobically so he doesnt becme a liability on a dry track at the G against good sides. Look at Steve Johnson who others have said he needs to base his game on. He's one of the fittest guys at Geelong. If he doesnt get to that level he's no hope of a career ILO.

Hope he does though because he does have a load of tricks & gives us something we lack.

Liked the footage of Dayle Garlett posted elsewhere in terms of that small forward who can go into the mids. That's what we need. Good to see Dan back in the side. We all know he has the talent, let's hope he can go on with it. He and Edwards give us the creativity, King can then play to his strengths and Nahas can play higher up the ground running forwards into the 50, which makes him so much more dangerous.

Agree on Connors' fitness Leyser. Run, boy, run.

I reckon Houli would be better than we think in attack given his accurate kicking.

Nahas & King are fulfilling the role OK now but have queries if they are up to having an impact in big games in September when the standard increases. The fact they pose no threat overhead limits them when things get tough/tight & space is at a premium ILO.

Yeah, it's becoming more and more obvious that Robin has absolutely zero confidence in his ability to mark overhead.
In every marking contest now Robin does not even bother putting his hands in the air, he simply tries to push his opponent away from the ball and get it to ground. Terrible indictment on your confidence in your own ability if you don't even try, even when your in the best position.

Dayle Garlett is one for me. Would take the punt on a second rounder if he was there. In a flash. We aren't quite in a spot to take the chance on him as a first rounders.

But Connors is something that we don't have. Has a stack of X factor. Saw what you want about him but he has huge talent.

Any reason why not Scoop? Having not seen much of him is it off-field, talent etc

Has some tricks for sure but he's also a very patchy footballer. For every piece of brilliance there's an error.
He needs to eradicate the sloppy errors from his game to be given the tag of a huge talent.
If he can tip the balance and get some consistency into his performance he might make it.

Also Dimma rightly pointed out his defensive effort the other night. No room up front for show ponies that don't work. We've been there, done that.
It's one aspect of Stevie J's game that is underrated.

It's not talent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2JT1OkosP8

Has that by the bucket. It's this http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/afl/13909505/young-gun-desperate-to-clean-up-his-act/ and this http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/personal-issues-damage-dayle-garlett-appeal/story-e6frf9jf-1226298620299

If it was a weaker draft I would take the punt but when you can get a A grader without issues in the first round, you have to take it. But for a second rounder with a A grader banked away, I would take the punt in a heart beat.

Those are highlights from last year. Was he overlooked or ineligible SCOOP? The video says "2011 draft prospect" but surely not?

Too young last year. That makes the highlights better, that is as a underage player. Massive talent, could be anything.

Cheers Scoop. Yeah have seen that clip & a bit last year. Very clean isnt he.

Interesting on his off-field stuff. You would be wary of how much it can blown up by WA & there comes a time where the talent is just too great for the pick & you have to take a chance.
