Connors

very handy come back game wasn't it??....

with him in the forward line along side..jack..king..nahas...a resting martin/lids/cotch rotation..and vickery if he gets it together ...then we have a pretty good line up...(can't see where miller and jackson fit in though?)

Perhaps. Giansiracusa took a heap last year after not playing that role at all during his career. Maybe someone like Newman or Houli could be converted. Both certainly have the footskills to hurt teams that let them.

I'm keen on Newman playing forward. I think we have the coverage for him to move and his class might be the spark our forward line needs.

IMO in the medium term there won't be a spot for him down back anyway.

Oops, Sorry Sin.

Thought that was a strange call for you. I should start reading these threads ;D

Very close to being dropped. Wouldn't go near him with a ten foot pole.

Jeff Garlett?

He's in a form slump but surely he's shown enough to be a pretty exciting prospect. Definitely an upgrade on Nahas (and Kingy)

No probs. I wasn't really even talking about him specifically,as all I know about him is what I have seen and read here, but more about the type of player. I just think we need a highly skilled, speed machine, ball carrying, goal kicking mid.
Not much to ask for is it? ;D
Send us Lewis Jetta and I will be happy.

Never ever BCL.

Always amazed at how poor he is in any contest where he has to use or commit the body. Low possession player, makes a lot of dumb decisions with the ball, goes missing when it gets tight.

When the stars align and the ball is bouncing Blues way he will get on the end of a couple but I am very glad he is Carlton's problem and not ours. They need to give his spot to Andy C on a permanent basis.

Thought it interesting that Hardwick made the point that Connors was part of the 'short term future' at the club in the press conference after the game.

It seems the heat really is on Connors if he wants to be around next year.

Nice pick up, I noticed his comment as well. Thats good by Dimma, keep the pressure on him. Connors needs that sense of urgency in his football career.

Is there a potential deal already being worked on behind the scenes for end of year maybe ?

More likely just a statement that puts the ball squarely in Connors court i.e. at this point there are no guarantees beyond the short-term. But if he makes a proper go of it - there could be a future beyond that with Richmond.

I did wonder that. Despite the fact we are still well in the hunt for the finals and should be playing our best 22 tpo try to achieve that aim, I couldn't see Dimma wanting to give games to a player who was not going to be around next year.

Why not Streak?
Finals is the aim for this year. Best 22 plays.
If Connors is deemed in that best 22 he should play.
Beyond this season is another thing altogether.

Agree

could also increase trade value.

Connors may have done his dash with Dimma, who knows, but while he is being paid by the club, they expect performance.

Because I reckon that Dimma is walking the line between this year and next.

No doubt he wants to play finals this year, but I don't think Connors will be the difference between us getting there and not. If Dimma didn't want the guy next year, I think he'd be sticking with O'Hanlon and the other kids and taking the chance.
