Connors

So if a close relative or friend of his died or was badly injured in an accident you think he should still go?

Other clubs have given players leave following a "bereavement". "Personal issues" would be for something where his privacy need to be protected.

Good move by the club. Look how much trouble he got into just going to Sydney, imagine him going overseas for a week. Would probably drink Arizona dry.

OK I apologise in advance if his personal problems are of the tragic family type. Whatever personal problems Conners is having I hope he can resolve them and not waiste this chance at playing AFL footy.

Having said that the difference between Connors and Edwards is when the coaching staff told Edwards he was too small and getting pushed off the ball too easily he responded by getting in the gym and adding 5 kilos.

Edwards will take some time to get used to playing with the added weight but once he has he (like Nahas last year) could really turn his game around.

Connors (Last seen hanging out with Party Boy Hislop) has two problems:
A) he lacks commitment
B) He is prone to playing up outside the club
C) We now have Morris, Dea, Ellis, Arnot, Batchelor, Grimes, who can possibly take his HBF role and Batchelor (again), Conca, Helbig, that could possibly step up to a midfield/wing role... These are kids some of whom will make it some of whom wont, but the depth means that Connors cannot be a part time party boy and step into the team.

Actually three points :)

Bottom line is you need to work to make it and that commitment is not evident ATM.

If there is a genuine reason for connors having to stay behind then you have to cut some slack. The problem is that trouble always seems to follow him. After all the past incidents one can be forgiven for being a bit sceptical when Connors is the only Tiger who has personal issues preventing him from going to Arizona. Unless genuine you'd have to think that was the last chance for Connors. We will most likely put him down as another who had alot of potential talent but not the desire to make the most of it.

I met Dan once at an Auskick clinic he was involved with in Perth.

He seemed like a nice fella, my son certainly thought he was pretty cool.

Things just don't seem to be going well for him at the moment.
Funny had the opposite experince at our Auskick last year. We get Tigers every year and out say 8 i've seen he was the least interested in being there.
Best Andy Krackouer. Our clinic seems to have an unfortunate knack of having Tigers who get de-listed within a year or so. We add Gourdis to that list now. Had Kingy and Moore this year so that doesn't bode well!

This year reverted to type.

How so? He played a good quarter as the sub against Carlton in round 1 and 2 OK games the following weeks. He then got injured and missed the rest of the year.

It's not far to Vegas from there either :hihi

I think he had been dropped to Coburg before he was injured.

Yeah true, 1 game at Coburg in April then missed the rest of the season. 3.25 games for the year all told.

Who said they were?

The clear implication from your post prior to this one was that Conners was OK for a couple of games then got injured which put him out for the year. ie. he wasn't at fault.

Can't see him playing another game.

It's his fault he got injured?

Hardwick talked him up as a vital part of the 2012 campaign at the B&F (IIRC) so I imagine he'll be getting a game unless missing the Arizona trip is really due to a lack of commitment as some are suggesting.

You said one good and 2 ok. They can't have been that good or ok if he was dropped.

OK doesn't equal anything other than OK, and an OK game from an established player in a 10 goal flogging can easily result in a week in the magoos. 5 frees against probably didn't help either but the rest of his play was OK.

He was dropped, and rightly so

If it was due to him playing up again, surely he would've been delisted yesterday given his off-field history. Either that or they really do rate him highly to persist with him despite all that.

And? Plenty of players have been dropped before and bounced back. How exactly was getting injured and missing 20/24ths of the year Connors' fault?

Uh oh looks like Connors is finsihed for sure if Disco's taken up flying the flag for him.

I really don't understand what point you're trying to make. He was dropped due to poor form, I'd say thats down to him, then he got injured in the seconds. You're bundling up 2 issues into one, which is confusing

I'm trying to understand your statement that Connors reverted to type last year and your implication that getting injured was somehow able to be blamed on Connors himself.

To try and help, I think Connors getting dropped was due to a substandard game and getting injured is rarely, if ever, the actual players fault. What I'd like you to tell me is how you think he reverted to type after a good 2010 when he only played 3 and a bit games in 2011.

Rance. Houli. Foley. I know I cursed Hislop, Tambling tore a heart muscle and Les just wasn't up to it but I'm not a complete Kiss Of Death.

Interesting comment.

McCarthy better go to Port then. ;D

On Connors, if he's not fit enough, then IT IS his fault for getting injured don't you think?
