Connors

I still really wonder about this 'quad injury' that Connors supposedly had all season.
It seems very strange to me that if this is all it was that he'd be after a fresh start and the club would be shopping him around to all and sundry.
However it may be just as innocent as an injury because he really has slid down the pecking order since others have been tried at HB and shown as much better options.
If Dan does stay with us he'd better bust his balls on the track pre season and look to reinvent himself as a forward because as it stands now his AFL career is on it's last legs..

Has been usurped by Houli, Conca, Batchelor, and Grigg.

Your right re Connors but i'd go further and say he needs to go.

If the Tigers can get rid of 2 of Connors, Graham and McGuane thats a better result.

Cant see it myself tho expectation only leads to dissapointment..

We need Graham and McGuane to go.

Morton and Connors have talent but for whatever reason aren't fixtures in the team. I still think you can change/teach attitude but you can change a lack of talent. I was hoping that the "new" Richmond with all it's new development coaches would be able to remedy this. I'll spew if they go somewhere like Sydney and their "culture" is able to make something of them. Talented footballers don't grow on trees and with all the teams now the talent is going to be spread thinner.

I want Connors and Morton to stay. If we trade them for 3rd or 4th round draft picks I'll be peeved.

I want to see him tried as a forward permanently who can rotate onto a wing. We aren't going to get value for him. Rumour is he failed a medical with Adelaide so maybe his injury is the truth.

Watch the drawn game against st.kilda and see why he needs to go, and while your there watch morton give away 2 very undisciplined free kicks at crucial times in the game.

Agree, but unfortunately those 3 will probably still be on our list next year. McGaune and Graham have to go, Connors is talented but I don't think he will make it at any club, the sooner those 3 and a few more are off our list the sooner we will be getting better.

I'm happy to keep Connors for now.
If he gets healthy he can influence games. Good depth player at the least if he stays soft but if he really toughens up then we get a solid 2nd tier 20 possie average guy who can influence the scoreboard.

Read elsewhere that he failed a medical, and the crows subsequently lost all interest.

Fits with having missed the season. Might be a medical delisting along with Kelvin.

Richmond isnt a charity, so that would be a good idea. Theres two new places that can be filled by draft/rookie/state league talent.

Almost costs as much to delist a player for medical reasons as it does to give them a minimum wage deal for a year to see if they can get fit. There is a termination payment for career ending injuries.

I don't mean to sound naive - but what do they do for a 'medical' at this time of the year - given that he failed.

It was a quad injury, or multiple quad injuries. I've never heard of a career ending quad injury. More likely other issues being taken into account..

Putting injury aside, i'd be throwing a rope around Conners and Morton and telling them to train together and bust each others guts in an effort to secure both wing positions. They both have x-factor, can kick a goal, will win the ball 80% of the time in a contested marking situation and both can use the ball (tho conners can throw in the odd howler).

The second they don't do the defensive stuff well enough, hello Coburg!

If it doesn't work, then at least you're delisting during a strong uncompromised (other than compensation pics) draft.

It's probably a long shot, but if it came off it would add a hell of a lot of kick to our attacking side. If it became a problem defensively, then i wouldn't tolerate it for more than a game before sending one / both back. They both have the tools, maybe if they are given something to aim at we can extract the best from the talent they definitely have.

[Vizard Hinch impression]I've said it before and I'll say it again[/Vizard Hinch impression] - Connors should replace *smile* in the midfield.

just saw him training in the gym, looking very strong. doing lots of leg rehab work in between power and Olympic lifts.
