There are good prospects but a lot of players who appeal will be available with late picks, I would even entertain a player swap if it addressed a pressing need. Connors may or may not replicate his 2010 form but it seems a bit harsh to write a bloke off for merely being injury plagued for an entire season, consistency isn't an issue when you average 23 touches a game over 14 games IMO.

I think Adelaide would be getting the better deal, I rate Connors as a second rounder and Maric as a third. If the Crows sweetened the deal somehow then yes, if they exchanged their first rounder for ours I would be all for it.
 
23 disposals but at a low efficiency rate - trade him if we can

Just an observation, west coast has recruited players richmond thought had inferior disposal effficency and based on today they are probably correct

That's probably a fair trade at a glance, my priority would still be to get Crouch in the mini-draft or put us in a position to get a player like Grigg.

Not sure if we could get mini-draft pick out of connors. If we can then fantastic. I'd even be happy to pick up the 3rd pick in that. Will be a gun whoever we get. O'Meara, Crouch, Stringer, Grundy. I have a feeling Grigg won't test well and he will be available. If we came away from trade week with a 1st, 2x2nd, 4th we will be doing ok. The only part of my trade for Maric is that i reckon he would be available PSD. GWS can't take him due to P.Davis, GC have rucks that need to develop, PA will likely get Griffin, Brisbane have Leuenberger and Adelaide wouldn't take a player not wanting to be there. Melbourne have rucks galore.

Would be a great result to snatch Maric in the PSD however too risky IMO if we really want him.

I'm sure a trade will be organised.

Yep, this is why I wouldn't go all out in a Connors swap unless it puts us in the territory to grab an A grader, Maric in the PSD would be an excellent result if Adelaide don't come to the party. As for the mini-draft, I reckon we've got a little bit of bargaining power with the compo pick and guys like Connors and Edwards might get us over the line. There's also been some strong rumours about Adelaide wanting Kennedy and Vince wanting out so make of that what you will, beyond O'Meara I think the remaining picks will be more reasonable in terms of compensation.

Agree its risky but if Adelaide keep asking for massive overs like the compo then its an option. I dont think we should try screw clubs over but if a player is un-contracted and what they ask is ridiculous then stuff them.

I could live with that strategy, but it seems risky when we don't know what will happen with Free Agency.

Personally I think FA will be a flop in terms of decent talent hitting the open market.

Not expecting a star out of it. But better than over-paying for an average player. Maric types are the ones i expect to become free-agents. Fringe players that are looking for more opportunity. Guns will probably have their offers matched. And un-restricted players will be 28-29 by the time they can play for your team.

Derickx could well prove to be a no.1 ruck. If Maric is cheap or a PSD option then go for it.
