Connors

He can certainly win the ball and read the play.

But it is no use getting a lot of the ball if you turn it over 50% of the time.

I am concerned that he won't be able to get his effeciency to consistently over 75%. Yes, he does time the ball beautifully (which looks good) but just misses the target too often. I am not sure this is something that can be improved. Even at Coburg, where there is less pressure, his disposal efficency is poor.

disappointing last couple, but is a gun and important to our future. When we kicked a few in the third his drive was very important. When he gets to 50 games the brain fades will be ironed out.

Unashamed Connors fan, IMHO he has a hell of a lot of the tools you need to be a premiership player, not going to comment on other supporters opinions, however agree with some about his missing of targets latley, good and bad thing with that is DC is a beautiful deliverer of the footy at times and does have a great left boot, however he also kicks some absoulute duds, for me that is purley a concentration thing. Im still of the strong belief he will be very good and more then happy if DH gives him a week or two off now, though I doubt it I think DH sees the upside of this bloke.

Totally agree CC - I too think he drifts off into lala land...get his concerntration right and he'll be fine.

I think someone else said it, but he has a bit of the Tivendales and Bowdens about him. Can look awesome with a lot of his kicks, yet coughs up some absolute howlers.

I remember watching Tiva deliver his low bullets or kicking goals from outside 50 sometimes and thinking how good a kick he was, yet more often than not, he would scrub kicks and miss the target by miles.

The sign of a good kick is being able to execute under pressure. As a result, I don't think Dan can be classified as a good kick ATM.

Funny you say that PP, I actually think Dan makes more howlers when he has next to know pressure and his brain just pops out for smoko

I actually think that because he is so one-sided, he puts himself under pressure a lot by having to wheel onto his left. I can't recall having seen him kick on his right foot. Perhaps the massive windup he has also affects his ball drop. Not sure, just hypothising, but certainly if he is going to be a playmaker across half back he needs to improve his kicking.

I reckon the wind up is the problem,he needs to simplify it by shortening the distance a bit, nothing too drastic though, just a little bit of refining and he`ll be fine.

The massive wind up is because he's always thinking of "selliing the dummy' with his kicks. Can see it a mile away. As mentioned his poor kicks is an attention thing. I dont think he goes off to la la land but he's always thinking of doing something "extraordinary" or "brilliant". Just kick the ball to a team-mate and stop worrying about trying to look good.

Absolutely spot on. He just telegraphs his kicks. They are so obvious. An under 15's player could lay a tackle on him easily.

Needs to learn how to use his right foot. If he can he will be a very good player for a long time.

x 4. At 21, he is not too old.

He will be horribly exposed (like Fiora, Tivendale, Hall) in the coming years if he does not have a right side.

Just take a look at his whole year though!! How much has this kid improved, and who is to say he will not just keep on improving under Dimma! He wasn't even on anyone's radar last year, so I would take that fact that you can say that you are disappointed with the end of his year as a real positive!!!

Of course he has improved - he wasn't playing last year so his graph is heading in the right direction. What he did do yesterday was provide dash which I was happy with.

Absolutely - before this season he had played a total of 10 games in 3 years. This year he has played 13 games and is averaging 24 disposals a game, and is 5th in the AFL for kicks per game. He needs to use the ball better but has come a long way this season after nearly blowing his career up in Sydney. Was good to see Cuz go up to him after the game yesterday
