It'll be interesting to see Connors situation next year, whether it be retained/traded/delisted. From the outside looking in, I can easily see reasons why he could be moved on, but I'd prefer to retain him and see what Hardwicke can do once he gets a hold of him.
I haven't seen as much of Coburg this year as in the past and while I have recollections of him using his creativity and accurate disposal to set up and put teammates in better position the overriding impression of Connors is he is constantly playing for his highlight reel and plays the furthest thing from "team football" as you could get.
Out of the whole list I reckon he is the one who needs the most coaching. Needs to be coached to within an inch of his life. It may stifle some of his natural flair but I don't think that would be a bad thing - it's gonna come out no matter how many rules and parameters you set for him. Take him apart completely then rebuild him piece by piece. Could be something of a litmus test for Hardwicke - if he can get Connors up and running into a consistent, reliable, team-first footballer then he could just about develop anyone (provided the talent is there in the first place of course).
With a list so devoid of that many, even good kicks, it would seem a waste not to explore how far we can go with Connors, the talent seems to be there; preseason he reportedly did extra work with JR & TC so the wont or desire seems to be there, though clearly needs to work much harder on the field; athletically he needs work, whilst not quick he's not the slowest on the list but needs to build an engine (which may explain partly his lack of 2nd efforts) and looking at him, physically he doesn't look any different from the day he walked into the place.
Could go either way, but in the back of my mind you don't get rid of blokes who can kick the ball, so I'd like to see how he goes under the Hardwicke regime.
