now thats a good point and as much as i would like to add to this i will refrain. most on here think im the grand poo bah of the kkk as it is.

I won't add much either but IMO it might be a little about overcompensating for past racism. If Matt White was aboriginal he would be seen as the next Aaron Davey, instead his speed and tackling are brushed over. It's like a positive stereotype, which isn't directly hurtful for all I know, but shows there's still a division of race.

On the subject I think before you meet and understand someone of a certain race, your human instincts will naturally favour those with appearances similar to yourself. For example, if you have never spoken to an Indian before, when one stands next to you your body language will change. Your tone of voice slightly changes and you are a little more brief and possibly overly polite if you feel a little uncomfortable.

As for aboriginies I think most footballers have spent time with teammates and are past that cautious instinct phase. Which leads me to why that positive stereotype (a form of race division) exists?

All I can think of is commentators grew up with it and while they have accepted racism, they still have not accepted it on a deeper level for various reasons. They don't say "black bastard" or look down on another race, but they do still see them as different... it's just now the difference is a positive difference instead of negative.

Enough of my crap for now anyway :hihi

I agree but plenty with more haven't made it.

I'm a long way away from it but it seems the pre season attitude he displayed at Barwon Heads seems to have gone out the window and he's arguably receding.

We can't afford not to have those that can play not come on so he'd better start having a think about what he wants to do with his AFL career in a hurry.

The incoming coach will sit Dan down at years end and find out where he's at.

I don't understand the love for Connors.

Still playing the same game he was 3 years ago - hasn't come on at all. Still playing for himself and not the team. Not noticeably fitter or stronger. Getting to be as predictable as Morton playing on when he's taken a mark in the left forward pocket.

Yeah he does something flashy occasionally, but doesn't hurt teams at all. With his apparent attitude at the moment, he's practically a liability on the field.

Here's a statement for you - Daniel Connors at the moment is not even half the player Andrew Krakouer was before he got all criminalised. And I'm not exactly Andy's biggest fan.

If he changes, good on him. However, it's been a long time now and he's the same guy with the same bad habits - personally I can't see him snapping out of it.

I doubt he will care about team footy and going 100% until he's de-listed.

The mad, lazy, non-team player, passenger, one trick ranga should draw the line in the sand from now, another half a season remaining that will determine his future at Richmond no doubt.

Went back with the flight of the ball and hit the oncoming pack hard in the Burgers game on the weekend. Gutsy move and earned a little more of my respect.

Needs a strong coach and game plan to stick to, has the talent and the courage to play senior footy.

Not sure about this bloke--no doubt there is talent there--but i wonder about his fitness--at TEAC on Saturday--was really "blowing up" when coming to the bench. Actually of thr RFC listed players I reckon only Bowden could be promoted on form shown in that game

A lazy footballer with talent. He wont be the first nor the last. His attitude or application will not change until HE decides to do something about it. Unfortunately for him and the RFC that might come all too late.

Now we can see why he was a late pick in the 06 draft.

I remember that play.Gutsy pfttttttttttttt. All he did was spoil Shultz who was in the perfect position to take the mark.Instead of doing the team thing and pulling out he chose to do the individual spectacular.
Delist.

i agree but he is contracted for 2010

Well the saints were keen on him at the end of last year.Give them a call

Please no. They would probably fix his attitude problem and come away with a gun. Lets fix the problem ourselves and get a gun.

I think that would be a mistake yet skipper but I understand the frustration.

Agree with this, particularly after seeing what Lyon is getting out of his previously under achieving charges at the Aints.

Give him a season with a coach who might actually develop a youngster with talent.
If he's still wayward next season then by all means send him on his way.

You would think Jade would have seen what he can do at the burgers, so if he doesn't get a call up and successive games, one must wonder what his future with the club is new coach or no new coach.
Will the real Jeff Bond please stand up?Where is the improvement in attitude this guy was supposedly going to engender?

Huge disappointment this year.
He's got talent and some mongrel but bugger all concept of getting himself into prime condition or playing disciplined team footy.
Even if he's contracted for next year seriously hope he figures out that he needs to string together five or six senior games this year, just to give the incoming coach something to hang the hat on.

Not singling you out TM, but people need to remember that he injured himself trying to get himself into prime condition by overworking during the pre season just gone. Yes he likes to do the spectacular too much, and I'm sure he's aware of the need to work on it.

I spoke to Trent Cotchin who said he really had turned the corner preseason and was set for a big year, so it was a massive disappointment for Dan himself.

Me speculating now - maybe he's frustrated about not getting through preseason unscathed and hasn't got his head right yet. He's a talented player, and he did go over the top to try and get into tip top shape. If someone is prepared to put in extra training, I think it means they're prepared to do whats required overall. Yes he's been a disappointment so far, but don't throw the baby out with the bath water. He does need to get it right, no doubt.
