Funny, most of what you posted sounds like the sort of stuff you'd say to defend the pitiful performance of the club ::)

It is. Some of you like to call yourselves "Darksiders", and it seems there is almost a competition to see which of you can find the most to hate about the club. Some of it from this group (not gunna single anyone out - too late for that level of brain activity :D) is constructive, but much of it is simply pure venom without much use.

One the otherside you have what you call the "Brightsiders". Now no-one is a brightsider the way you are a darksider, they tend to have blind spots. We would be winning with Gas in the side, Richo is a god, Wallace is unstoppable, etc... They have their faves, and nothing you say will convince them around.

I consider myself in the middle. I'm realistic enough to know several of our players dont cut it, and their careers will end in October. I dont joy in this, as they will struggle to find work elsewhere in the AFL, but its the reality. I also am realistic enough to acknowledge there are going to be questions every year on our coaching staff, regardless of ladder position. They need to be constantly reviewed, and if improvement or forward momentum is not occurring, move em on.

That being said, just like Pandora's Box, I have hope. The kids are showing promise. Wallace got this side to 9 last year, so he is no complete dud as a coach. The finances are turning around, and we are getting a list manager, development manager, and more spotters around the country, all vital to our longer term strength.

One thing with Darksiders I dont get is if its so miserable following the club, why do it? Sure I swear at the TV and throw stuff at it when we such, but after the rant I move on and look with hope to next week. The day I dont have that (and I have come close a few times), its probably the day I start following the Victory a little harder.

connors wasnt gold found in a heap of mud

lots of people rated him but their were other factors that made him slip which was good for us

im not jumping on the FJ bandwagon yet, last years draft was a corker and we did alright as it stands at the moment but the test will come what happens in 07 draft and also what the speculative types from 05 bring to the table when they get fit

I suppose panicing is the one thing I don't think I am doing. Sorry to react to your private joke but buddy and tambo are red rags to a bull for me. Personally I am of the opinion that encouraging the positives works far better than labouring the negatives. This has been my experience in life anyway.

funny that because my experince in life is always take care of the negatives and the positives will look after themselves

diff'rent strokes i guess

I don't mean you should ignore the negatives. You work on the negatives but encourage the positives. Talking about the negatives ad infinitum helps nobody. IMHO.

I missed yesterday's game so can someone tell me about Connor's role? Were they cheap Bowden-type possessions? Did he win his own ball? Did he set up play? Did he hurt the opposition? How fit and quick is he? Did he shape up to anyone? Who did he play on, and how did that player go?

plenty of contested possessions

I like the look of this kid he will ad a bit of toughness and skill to the side. I think last years drat will turn out a beauty for us. Im exited

He's a gem.

You need to look at a player once to see hwether he has "it".

I liked the fact that he is prepared to back himself in, whether it be for a grab or to take a player on. Even last week in his first game, he was in Barry Hall's face (as was McGuane!), but you didn't see any opther senior player involved!!!

Leave him in for the rest of the season :clap

TTT mentioned in another thread that the side needs balls and confidence, Connors has both.

Yeah that was great... Hardly ever see that kind of effort from Richmond players.

And some skill it appears. ;D

We have a good junior midfield shaping up ; Foley, Deledio, Tambling, Edwards, Polo, Connors, Collins.

We just need a couple more big body inside type mids with grunt and poise. But we have Cogs to come back in too.

Connors could play that inside midfielder.

Is it just me or are we seeing a bit of a change in the recruiting trends.

It seems we are now starting to recruit more natural footballers in the likes of Reinwoldt, Connors, Casserly and co rather than looking for the X factor all the time. If this is correct lets hope the trend continues.

He was very impressive. He's had to play against two really good outfits against relatively small crowds. Lets see how he does on the big stage against Collingwood!

Conners looked very good. He played better than any of his games at Coburg that I have seen. Hit some tarkgets on the run that marked him as being something to look forward to.

Our recruiting policy should be to draft every player that is not of good character and our clubs fortunes wouldchange dramatically I think. Throw this "good character" stuff out the window and recruit players with aggro and talent. makes the opposition worried to line up agaisnt guys with a bit of an attitude.

I think that's what's most impressive.
Doesn't appear intimidated or uncomfortable with the step up to the next level.

Aside from having ability, he's got that self belief and attitude that all great players have. Finally we've found a player - was it a fluke? Surely Miller couldn't have been involved!

He is a gem!! We are not bias the comentators on fox were falling in love with him
