This thread reads much the same as the one started after Hartigan's first game!
Difference is Daniel can kick.
And even at this early stage Connors is more physically developed than Hartigan was at the same point.

I like Connors, but he was responsible for 5 clangers and one error resulting in a goal. The good thing is that he can find the footy.
In his first game.

Re: Conners

I don't remember Polo producing 5 clangers in his first game. Actually, he won the Rising Star nomination for the round.

And he wasnt having the best year before he was injured was he.
Foley probably had 10 errors in his first game but he goes alright.

The team was travelling a tad better than the one Conners plyed with on Sat night. Not to mention the opposition ;)

Re: Conners

Pull ya headin Checkside

Conners should have won the game for us off his own boot ;)

Liked the kid and maybe just had a little case of nerves in his first game.

Never seen him have five clangers in a game at Coburg

Shame about Harts.
I really thought he'd be a player for us.
Went backwards under Wallace who's given him little support after a bright start to his career.
Aaah well.

Connors has a kicking action that is less likely to break down under pressure, can hit targets over distance and he is also unwilling to panic.Unlike Polo.

Re: Conners

There's a funny quote from Connors on the official site.

http://richmondfc.com.au/Season2007/News/NewsArticle/tabid/6301/Default.aspx?newsId=48444

In the second quarter, Connors’ heart had to deal with yet another nerve-racking experience when he failed to look at the number on his opponent’s jumper before launching a physical attack in a bid to fly the team’s flag.

“I ran into Barry Hall. I nearly broke my collarbone he was that hard,” he said.

“It was too late to try to back out, as I was too close to him. So, I ended up remonstrating with him a little bit.

I sort of regretted it afterwards because for the rest of the night he was breathing down my neck, looking for me. He is a very scary man on the field.”

You idiot :hihi

Well done Dan.

Re: Conners

What was most disappointing about this incident was that it was left up to our 1st gamer to remonstrate alone against Hall - pretty pathetic from more senior members in the team.

Yep I suppose you could look at it like that, personally I didn't. He's a pretty hot headed guy by all accounts, not everyone is like that. Sounds more like he made a poor choice before fully assessing the situation. But if you want to have a crack at the rest of the team go right ahead, seems like a good excuse.

another good quote from the same article. Seems like a good kid who hasn't had the personality trained out of his interviews yet.

“It is a good feeling at the club at the moment. We believe there is a big upset on the cards,” he added.
