Changes v Lions qualifying final

Would prefer this option under normal circumstances but probably need some cover after his prep.

Unfortunately we have two #1's demanding to be picked and two versatile pinch-hitters who aren't. Even so I think we need to go with one of each, with the only certainty being Nank plays if he pulls up OK from yesterday. Which would be really hard on Soldo.
You cannot drop Ivan2 after the way he has played the last few weeks against top 4 opposition. He has been crucial in the last few weeks. I had him replaced by Nanks as soon as Nanks was ready to slot back in but Ivan2 has been irresistible against WCE and Brisvegas the last 2 weeks.

Nank is a great defensive mark and positions himself beautifuly in the hole. I recon that’s how we will use him. The ‘killing ground’ effect when we secure the ball in our 50 with talls placed for the outlet kick is one of his specialties as well.

It's a conundrum. Nankervis is a proven finals performer and a competitive animal, don't think we can leave him out if he's fit.

Chol or Balta may have a couple of moments of divine physical grace but will only achieve low tap, low possession games. Nank however...
A huge game from Nank, our leading possession getter, not very often a ruckman does that.

Beauty is they both can clunk a mark and kick a goal.

Funny going from a ruck desert in 2016 with Hammer to possibly five reasonable options in 2020.

Hampson was OK in 2016, managed 20 games for the only time in his career and finished 12th in the b&f (Maric was 13th in 2014-15; Nankervis 13th in 2017-18). Obviously Nankervis has a physical presence that we didn't get from Hampson.

Also held Grundy to an average game.

If Nank pulls up ok after yesterday's game
It should be the NankDo combo that take on the Lions

That's what I'm hearing, BigCho, with Balta second ruck and spare key (back or forward). But McRae spruiked Nando in The Age's VFL writeup today.

Has to be Nank in and if Soldo is doing a great job in the ruck either play him fwd or as the intercept mark in the backline.

I reckon we'll play Nanks/Soldo the same way it was played in the reserves yesterday. Nanks will be used sparingly early one with Ivan taking up the bulk of the ruck work duties. Once Brisbane's Martin starts tiring a bit Nanks will take over and hopefully dominate the 2nd half.
