Changes v Lions qualifying final

I reckon Nank would be amongst our best set shots on goal at the club.

He seems to mostly just go back and stick em through.

So does Chol. And Balta, for that matter.

So does Soldo.

Anyone saying Soldo should be dropped has not been watching Dusty feed off him in the middle. Plus, we can finally nullify the Gawn's and Grundy's. As he has.

Also, Nank as a back up ruck? Luxury.

Nank as a loose defender when both are on the ground, seeing we've been a tall short there all year? Extravagance.

Nando is a win-win-win-win.

When Nank played his one game back a few weeks ago, he was said to have pulled up sore due to the high stoppage game that it was. This put enormous pressure on his groin, and led to him having to miss again.

I was always of the opinion that we had to have one of Soldo or Nank, and one of Chol or Balta, but if Nank has only a relieving ruck role, against a team that haven’t been a high stoppage team, then it’s more likely his groin will be able to handle the step up.

He can certainly play forward; we’ve seen him do it. Chol and Balta can also go back though, which I’m not sure Nank can. It may not even be necessary.

I’m now thinking Soldo plays, with Nank as the best no. 2 ruckman in the AFL. Provided he pulls up ok of course.

Pickett for Bolton must come under consideration. A straight swap. Picketts bigger body will come in handy against the Lions.

Centre Bounces last game,. Graham was in there much more than I thought, seems to me fairly ineffective trying to chop out Brisbane's midfield guns. Will need to do better next game if given the same role. Mainly used were Dusty, Prestia, Edwards, Graham, Cotchin, Soldo, Balta. Bolton in there twice.

Brisbane will be full of confidence after they successfully bullied us on the MCG and kept the scores level for 3 quarters.

On the replay, Brisbane are knocking us over after every mark, gave us corkies, tackled like UFC fighters. It’s as unsociable as Hawthorn 2008 or Bulldogs 2016. They will beat us next week if we aren’t serious about one aspect of the game above all else: Winning the fight within the fight.

Richmond vs Geelong 2017 told a similar story. It’s scarily similar.

However, the difference between us and Geelong is it’s too early in our story to hand over the reigns to another young king of the jungle just yet. That’s what this battle represents though from the outside.

This. Absolutely spot on

Really? That's not the way I saw it. We had their measure the whole game. The final margin was irrelevant. They gave everything they had, pressured hard, more disposals, more tackles, more clearances, more contested possessions yet they still lost and still could only kick 8 goals and amass only 15 scoring shots for the whole game. Their advantage this next game is their home ground. Our advantage is we'll be even stronger with Cotchin a game under his belt and Nanks coming them giving their rucks no respite whatsoever. And a hige advantage is FINALS EXPERIENCE. I doubt Brisbane are full of confidence. I suspect it's not the 9 game winning streak team who just beat them last round that they'd prefer to be playing in the qualifying final this weekend.

The only reason Brisbane kept the scores level for 3 quarters was due to us butchering so many goals especially early in the second. Jack missed two of his round the corner kicks, not just missed but they never looked like worrying the goal umpire. Castagna tries to tap the ball over an oppositions head to Lynch but taps through for a point. Lynch himself tries to mark the ball on the goal line but spills it through for a point, and if he had shepherded through it would have been a goal.

After all that Brisbane go forward and kick a goal. Frustration

Plenty more of that. We should have been a lot further in front.

'Succesfully'?

Didn't see it myself. I watched the game again last night and Baker, Bachar and others were laughing as they were tackled.

I have watched the game twice and Richmond were an 8 goal better side on the day...possibly more if we converted.

And you forgot to mention the umpires. Lynch blocked by Zorko. Certain goal 99% of the time. Lynch penalised for a push on Andrews after taking a mark 20m out. Lynch penalised for a block whilst DRioli running towards goal.
Add to the fact that they got to within 13 points near the last and we again blew them away, I would argue the clock actually saved them from more punishment. They were disappointed after the game. Not because they believed they should have won. Because they know they were beaten by a better team. No media beat up or coach’s spin will install confidence in their gut. And Cameron complaining to the umpires bench at 3/4 time is akin to waving the white flag. Please help me. It’s not fair.

On Macquarie sports this morning, they said ,

‘Apparently Brisbane are adopting the attitude if it bleeds, kill it ‘

Whatever that means, sounds like they are attempting to talk tough.
