Changes V Hawks

Duggan had 3 intercept possessions, and 1 contested mark.

Mate bottom line he had 7 marks, I saw on 3 occasions Miller was not close enough to impact the contest and bring the ball to ground. So half a meter away and Duggan marks too easily, all within 20 mins from goals. Overall Miller had 4 disposals, a dirty day at the office.

:ROFLMAO:
dont hold ur breath.
hes 'really enjoying his footy' at the moment.
He is a good man and he is really enjoying himself, but knows that he is now not physically up to the tall forward role, and the team is suffering as a direct consequence of his playing on. What is it 2 goals now in the last 4 games?

I think he and his longtime mate Cotch will run out for the last time on Saturday.

Since Lynch went down we haven't had a functioning forward line. We could do with someone in the forwards who can take a mark and not leave it all to a very tired Jack.
KB played well in the seconds .. think this kid will make it as a KPF but is still pretty raw . Thats about all we have as far as a Tall forward in the seconds .

I will be as sad as everyone. An end of era moment.
But we can’t go on as a competitive operation by hiding from the facts.
We can’t make finals unless our forward line makes some changes. And Jack is the major part of that problem.

I'd say Jack and Chimp won't announce retirement until we're out of the finals race.

Can you tell us the winning Tattslotto numbers while you are on a roll?
Not on a roll myself.
And maybe they will wait until the end of the season, but in the present circumstances, no Lynch, low scores, and with Jack in particular falling into a pattern of not contributing in any meaningful way, it is time for probably Tim Livingston, to tap Jack on the shoulder.

Jack not contributing in any meaningful way ?

"Riewoldt has had a lean time of it lately, but has been battling away manfully to fill the gaping hole left by the injured Tom Lynch.

He might not have hit the scoreboard as much as he would have liked on Sunday, but the veteran ended the day with a game-best nine marks (three contested), nine score involvements and three tackles (two inside 50).

It was an intriguing battle with Tom Barrass, but Riewoldt would have grabbed the honours for his hard-working display".

It was his best game for a while but it was against West Coast.

His best work took place when Barrass was off the field and he managed 1 goal. He did work hard .. he always does, a matter I commented on last week.
But physically he has slowed and lost his leap and general physical prowess.
If he goes on I don't believe he will contribute in any meaningful way to games we need to win to get into the 8.

We may get there through the efforts of other team members, but the teams best chance of doing well from here imo is going with someone who has a greater capacity to compete.

You've had an axe to grind with Jack all year for some reason.

The problem that we have at the moment is Lynch is injured and we do not have anyone at the club that can replace him.

Everyone knows that jack can't replace Tom any more but he is being forced into that number 1 tall forward role and "doing nothing" according to you. What I see is a man taking the oppositions best defender (and usually a 2nd one as despite Jack being nowhere near his prime he is still commanding enough for the opposition to try and double team him), which should free our other players up around him. We are however playing non-natural forwards with him which is exacerbating this issue. We have tried playing those more natural forwards forward with him (Shai and Dusty) but we need them more in the midfield, so its sort of a perfect storm against us right now.

Do you really think we would be better off with Miller or Ryan taking their best defender? I would hazard a guess that very few teams would double team them meaning our other forwards would have even less space in the forward line.

Jack is a part of a poorly functioning forward line but IMO is a result of it rather than the cause that you seem to think he is.

I thought JR8 was equal parts very good and ordinary. Was getting plenty of the ball, was working hard up the ground presenting. But he ball use and goal kicking was ordinary.
That said I wouldn’t be dropping him any time soon.

couldnt agree more.

I really doubt anyone would disagree. But we dont have anyone.
Ryan has shown flashes. Miller sometimes tries hard, but neither contribute as much as Jack, Bradtke and Biggie would be hail mary's who arent showing anything in the VFL to suggest they would be a better option.
We could go small, but we are struggling to find one decent small/medium forward at the moment, let alone trying to find enough to kick a match winning score.

If we get to the stage where we cant make finals maybe Bradtke comes in, or someone else, but until then Jack will be our best option.

You just can't stand it when people disagree with you can you Posh. It really pisses you off. I now what you think you see. Carry on.

The point is, we all know Jack isn't what he used to be. No-one came in blindly expecting that this season. His trajectory over a number of years now has been downwards and thats not unexpected, but the point is WE HAVE NO-ONE TO REPLACE HIM.

You can throw players in before they are ready if you want, but don't expect to be even marginally competitive. Unfortunately for Jack, this season I'm sure hasn't panned out the way he would have wanted. I highly doubt he would have gone on if he thought finals were out of the question, he would be made to be the No. 1 key forward and be dominated every game, but thats the cards that we and him have been drawn this year.

You through Ryan / Miller / Bradke, whoever into that key role and their confidence will be pounded to death and I know you will call the Balta call again, but even when he has played forward, he hasn't played as the number 1 either, and I'm not sure he'd deal with the attention that well. If he was a forward he'd be a number 2, or a 3 and get up and down the ground.
