Changes v Crows

I’m pretty sure no senior play is due back, so I think I’d go with a similar 22, maybe Bolton and Broad in for Butler an ?

I would be shuffling the deck chairs around a fair bit though, maybe give a pure shut down role to Graham on Sloane, let Syd and Rioli run through the middle more , Caddy, Lynch and Martin with a lot of forward time. Not a reinvent of the wheel but just a tweak with a few lads

A question for those that have seen Choi play this year. Has he really learned to play four quarters or does he still fade out of the game for long periods? If the former then worth a punt but otherwise.....

As a forward he's third to the contest for four quarters but bobs up for 1 or 2 goals.

As a ruckman against Essendon he played 4 quarters.

As a ruckman against North he played 0 quarters.

He seemed to do better against Geelong but I didn't see that match.

Its an unpopular viewpoint, but once you tune into what Lamb is talking about you can't un-see it.

Houli is almost totally unaccountable, so he must impact with his disposals otherwise the loose man for the opposition (either an extra at the contest or behind the ball) will hurt you but its not obvious it is Houli's man.

Ask yourself these questions about Houli game:

Why after games of 38, 37 and 27 aren't his disposals in any of the highlights in the last 3 weeks?

If Houli plays loose of half back and clocks up heaps of stats but the team gets flogged - what does that tell you?

Why has Edwards started to taking the kickouts from Q4 of the North game. (because Houli simply doesn't look and he is only interested in metres gained). Lamb is right to say he is a selfish player, as Houli knows that if he gets his stats and metres everyone sings his praises.

Once you start seeing it, you can't unsee it.

Don't get me wrong, Houli is in our best 22, but he needs to be instructed to play team first football. It is a couching thing. Right now, Houli is a law unto himself and everyone is singing praises.

Put simply, Houli doesn't impact the game and his opponent at the contest often does.

he received coaches votes in those 3 games and you pot him cos no highlights were put up?

And again Houli does not play loose. he just runs and runs.

Why drop Naish??
Wouldn't drop him but did you see his turnovers. This was the wrap on him when drafted and was apparent in his highlight video. Struggles to hit targets regularly. Reading the VFL reviews it appeared this had improved, Geelong is only one game but if keeps having more turnovers than Houli without the 500m gained then he won't last long.

If I was an opposition coach, I would vote him too, but I wouldn't bother tagging him, given his posessions and metres gained have you ever wondered why no team has bothered tagging him?

Let's give him more chances at least against lower teams.

if you were watching you might have noticed the bombers tried tagging him after half time, didnt work though.

That torp from the back pocket was lucky to land in a teammate's arms. Lazy and poor choice.

Ok let me explain a little about how Bacher works. You bring up the Bombers game.

37 Disposals
28 Effective Disposals but
10 Turnovers.

Do the math if you can. It doesn't add up. So this is how it works. Effective disposals are made up of effective long kicks, effective short kicks and effective handballs. An effective long kick is one that is 40 metres to a 50/50 or better for the team. An effective short kick is one that results in a teammate's possession who was the intended target of the kicker. A handball to a teammate that hits the intended target to the team's advantage is recorded as an effective handball.

So as long as Houli kicks it >40m to a 50:50 he gets an ED and the metres gained regardless of whether the opposition gather it and rebound for a goal.

Do yourself a favour and watch what happens after this guy has a possession, too often they hurt us and not the opposition. This is why AFL player ratings often rates him low because it takes into account what happens next.

Weather will play a big part in selection as Thursday's night game aint going to very pleasant weather wise. Top 16c 50% chance of rain. Now the wind will most probably be blowing its head off as it has been blowing like mad here in Perth for the last three days & will continue to do so right through this week. Towner & Soldo I would keep in as big bodies will be required. Broad back in as well.

I’d play two rucks this week, I think it will be a great opportunity(mostly out of necessity) to try it, I’d play Balta & Chol go mobile. Can’t really ignore Chols numbers.

I think we just have to be resigned to the fact just making finals 6,7 or 8th will be where we will finish. Then once Nank Riewoldt Lambert Astbury have had a good run we could do some damage if we get on a roll.

IN - Chol Ellis Broad

OUT - Townsend Butler soldo

Martin and Floss under an injury cloud

May not be playing this week.

I'd heard the same - per l'amore di dio, (for the love of god) what a season.

Struggling here but maybe we can say... it's a game where we're likely to drop anyway.

From what I saw, I thought he was BOG myself.

Maybe we should, did you think Houli had the biggest impact on the game?

Mangrook was given by impartials that probably looked at disposals and metres gained. Coaches were never going to disagree on the Mangrook award and base their assessment based on the true impact on the game.

Thanks for bringing up the Mangrook Conspiracy. It gets too little attention.
