Changes against Collingwood.

Haha, this from the guy who wanted us to drop Lynch and Riewoldt this week.

I suggest you have a long hard look in the mirror before you claim to know more about this sport than anyone else.

Then again, you're looking to pick a team to maximise our draft selection, aren't you?

So yeah. Castagna should be first picked all year.

pretty confident he didn't want both tom & jack out c.t.

& dimma faith in george hard to argue with last night.

Very impressed by MRJ, even in the VFL.
Has the ability, like the great champions, to split the forward line open, brilliant reader of the play.
Running from the centre corridor to half-forward, he will be a very dangerous player.
Really liked the open space of our forward line.

Balta was a key in our 2020 Grand final victory, when we were under the pump, facing defeat.
He was shunted to half back and intercepted the Cats' down-the-line channel.
Balta and Baker must play in defence.
It is too deep into the season now to do any more experimental tinkering.
The loss of Astbury and Houli eroded our defence more than we estimated.

George played one of the best games I've seen him play last night.

Particularly the first quarter. Strong, chased, hard at it and got involved.

But I just.. Can't. I know what we'll get from him next week.

Even when he kicks goals, he annoys me. Why when you're running on to an open goal on your preferred foot, would you stop, sell the world's slowest candy, move backwards on to your non preferred, then snap it a metre and a half off the ground?

I know I shouldn't complain about goals, but just why.

But my biggest gripe is an assumed one from watching live at the 'G. His forward pressure is extremely overrated. He really doesn't get involved enough defensively, through pressure acts or tackles.

It was really brilliant seeing Stack and Maurice forward. Genuine hunters of the ball and man, with game sense, anticipation and speed.

I have a sense the coaches will recognise that we have Castagna upgrades now.

So hard to pick the outs after that effort but, after looking at the stats I can only see Stack and Graham as the outs.
If Martin and Cotchin both come in then that would be the two on form with Graham replacing Ross as the sub.
If Tarrant comes back, as I expect the MC to decide, then the other out may well be Broad with Gibcus taking his spot.
IMO it makes sense. Two mids in, two out. One back in, one out.
Which ever way they go, next week could show who provides under-rated value to the side when under pressure.

PS I will wait to see Sonsie or Clarke replace Castagna later in the year.

Tarrant for Broad ?
That would be unusual dropping a bloke who would be in out top three B&F at the moment.
Tarrant can wait for games until Gibcus gets managed again or tires later n the year due to his young body.

Broads held the defence together all year I doubt he's getting dropped.

Tarrant can wait in the VFL he was pretty much dropped for form and fitness but they used the term managed as it keeps prying eyes off him.

He can work on his form confidence and fitness in the VFL.

His next opportunity will present soon enough, he needs to be ready to rumble..

Lambert (noted his limp post match)

If Lambert really is out of hip cartilage,

he'll be playing on anaesthetic,

and limping, until the orthopaedic butcher puts a saw through his femur, and screws a new ball on the end

Id say our Lambo has about 10 games left in him,

and hopefully only 6-7 of them are H&A

Aside from maybe the 2nd ruckman, Collingwood don't have a large forward line, De Goey and Mihocek are probably the 2 biggest threats and they are more lead up players. Reckon Balta can take the biggest and Grimes, Broad, Gibcus and Vlastiun more than capable of matching the more agile players.

Was listening to Simon Garlic (freo CEO ) yesterday about how rampant covid is in the WA community.
Let's hope the blokes who stayed over for the weekend have ......
a).... recently had it and recovered, or
b).... been extra careful, or
c).... time will tell, I suppose.

Besides getting the 4 points , I really hope we put time into Howe and Sidebottom ,history says if we keep them quiet we win

Richmond midfielder Dion Prestia will have scans ahead of the Tigers’ clash with Collingwood after being subbed out of Friday night’s huge win over the Eagles at three-quarter-time with Achilles and soleus muscle tightness.
The star midfielder has had a wretched run with injury since the start of 2020, playing 23 games in that time as he battled soft-tissue injuries.

Tigers coach Damien Hardwick said the decision to sub him out was a cautious one as the 29-year-old played the third quarter despite reporting the soreness at half-time.
“It’s a really challenging one for us because he is so important to how we play, but we could not take the risk with him getting injured,” Hardwick said.

Prestia missed rounds two and three with a minor hamstring issue and is desperate to keep playing. Hardwick was noncommittal when asked about the triple premiership player’s availability in round eight.
“It’s hard to tell. We’ll obviously get scans and work our way through it,” Hardwick said.

Dustin Martin is expected to return against Collingwood, although Hardwick said no decision had been made. However, he conceded the champion Tiger, who took a break from the game after round one for personal reasons, was keen to play.

Didn't we get him as part of the CCJ deal plus pick 40 and future 2nd round pick. I always thought Tarrant as an insurance policy with the retirement
What is being insured against though? Gibcus has fitted in well. Need more time to see what Miller has. And Biggie is in the wings. Was always a bit of a weird decision to recruit a 32yo imo.

It's quite simple, he doesn't have footy nous or awareness. That's not his strength.
