These last 3 wins must mean something about Chimp being able to spark and lead the team when down.
On-the-job training teaches you better than sitting behind and watching how others do it.

Wanted to give him the Captaincy when I met him on draft day ;D, Reckon us Cotch lovers are been a bit harsh on Newy, Ive been a critic of Newys at times , however can not be faulted as what he has done as Captain with his ability

Don't think it's that black and white. You don't have to have the 'captain' tag to be a leader at the club. I think the major argument atm is his age and the added 'pressure' of being captain. I think the club will decide to continue with Newman as coach next season.

Not harsh on Newy at all. No disrespect to him what so ever, but he almost appears a bit of a reluctant Captain at times where as Cotch is a "Natural Born Leader"

Exactly. Pretty simple decision no matter how much you want to peel it back.
The only way we keep Newman on is if we don't want to upset him. Which would be a weak decision.
It's Cotchin's time. He leads the game and it comes naturally to him.

Nuh seriously, this thought about pressure is all myth. If most of the boys are good mates and show respect by following your orders and not 'using' you, then you've got no worries. I can't see where pressure comes in.

Yep, agree. Cotch has got plenty of time. This is his apprenticeship, he'll be great for us but Newman is the man for right now. Good things come to those who wait. Cotches time in the limelight will be special for the club. I've previously said Newman should be cap for another year then I'm happy for him to hand it over.
Hell I don't think anyone would put a knock on the role Newy has done as Captain. He endured a horror first year and has had some crap to deal with during his time, I think he has been a very servicable captain for us, however Cotch has a big capital "C" stamped right in the middle of his forehead.

Its no coincidence that our form has turned around since he has taken on the role. He just has that ability to lift when the pressure is on like he did today and lead from the front. You can't teach that sort of leadership.

No doubt he's destined, but there really is no rush. Newy has two more contract years at least. Another year as Capt with Cotch his Vice only adds to the Tiges strengths - 2nd full pre-season hopefully coming up for Cotch - end of 2012 would be the ideal time, with Newy at least one more year as an overlap support.
