Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

Hardwick reckons July is when the big men come out to play - well Higgo you have grown up pretty fast.

I don’t even think of you as a first year player - bit like Graham during the finals last year

x2.

instant VIP

2nd year in a row we've got the best bloke in the draft :clap

He actually held the ball into position and while it was levitating he ran around the goal post and did a scissor kick. The ball stood still in mid air. No throw or drop.

how was higlets holding out his trembling hands, showing his teammates how much he was shaking after the goal?

another great tiger joyous moment

No idea how it could be a throw if his intention was to get it to his boot.

Would be like saying some of the best marks in VFL/AFL history shouldn’t be marks because of hands on the shoulders...

I don't think anyone went that hard. Maybe, I missed it. Speaking for myself, he'd dropped off a bit, nothing bad, and it just seemed to make sense to roll Bolton and Stengle through (Baker wasn't in the equation really).. In hindsight it was a dumb call, and now as you say, entrenched. Had a huge month.

Agree. I thought the same.
And the 'dropping off' is expected in first year players, who are known to run out of gas in the second half of the season, so I thought it was time to rest Higgins and bring in his finals replacement to cement his spot.

How bad is the age summary by both Jon Pierek and Jake Niall. Jon said he threw it up and regained possession and kicked the goal? Wrong. Jake said he threw it to himself and soccerred his goal. Wrong? And they get paid to write such lies.

Glad the footy media and footy public is finally catching up with this could never of been a throw - the public I understand, its not their job to know the rules - but our footy media has no excuse as they are PAID to have some idea what they are talking about. Gaddy Lyon typically the worst offender - egotistical, too smart by half, dufus.

Note the campaign of anti Richmond disinformation, MD. The less air we give them the better.

Leaving aside the campaign, the snivelling about Higlet's goal of the century is based on one primary motivation - salty.

Niall is a self-promoting ant and Pierek is a h a l f w i t.* Taste their tears.

*swear filter changes h a l f w i t to person. Heh heh.

Please hate us even more....hope the hate is so bad we win 3 flags in the next 7 years.

I have not felt this much hate since Balme knocked out Southby

Yeah. As a consolation the entire panel on game day this morning, eade, touhy, Bolton, all thought it was a goal and dismissive of any throw talk.

Thanks for all these reminders people (genuinely) - we must embrace the hate - because the haters are just getting greater in number and voice!

Jeepers, that is a very strong group.

I would have Rayner over all the others though.

Rayner simmering with brilliance but second half fade-outs becoming the norm. Challenge from here will be the tank, I guess in this day & age you don't need to spend 80% time in the middle to have an A-grade impact. Looks like he's in good hands though, Brisbane on the rise & not placing obscene amounts of pressure on the youngsters (the opposite of Carlton).

The biggest disappointment for me this year has been Davies-Uniacke, still hasn't adjusted to the pace of AFL, his 3 step burst hardly been sighted but it may just be a case of a longer apprenticeship than usual. North are a really good club when it comes to nurturing junior talent, Ben Cunnington also a slow starter but is probably the most underrated player in the AFL when it comes to stoppages. LDU still eligible for rising star 2019 provided he doesn't play another 2 games.

In terms of the haters its interesting that Andrew Maher said it was the best goal he'd ever seen.

I have no doubt its the most audacious goal I've ever seen live at a game. The crowd was united for the briefest instant with a "did he just do that" look.

Even better were the Collingwood disbelievers arguing he threw it, it had to be overturned, that can't be a goal......and the inevitability that is was going to be called a goal.

Its one of those magic moments you go to the footy for.

Nice

The kid's a genius.

At the time of the draft I said he reminds me of Ablett Jnr.

I reckon he'll be there abouts. Nothing has changed my opinion.

Bloody laughable all the crying about Higlet " throwing " the ball. Every round there'd be at least a dozen occasions where a player is on his back or side on the ground being mobbed by opposition and they simply throw the ball in the general direction of their foot n as long as they make contact it's a kick, play on. Cotch is a classic at hacking the ball in this manner.
