Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

Absolutely, it was well within the rules. Scum supporters can whinge all they want.
It was a tricky day for the entitled nuffy Pie fans, where were all their free kicks?

Wouldn't have complained if it had been called a throw.
Could have gone either way, maybe congrats to the ump for having a sense of theatre.

Players throw the ball onto their boot all the time. Probably happened 20 times today. Why would this have been called a throw? Because he kicked a goal?

Certainly enough doubt and uncertainty to give the umpire a chance to let it go. Regardless another good game. If absolutely everybody was fit he might miss out on a game - the only way though.

Regardless - I thought he was terrific today. Loved his hands in close.
This. I was near the boundary and saw a few gems from him up close. Much more of a player than his party tricks and funny interviews may lead you to believe. He’s an incredibly smart little player.

Just saw replay. He was starting to leaning back and let go of the ball to do the scissor kick and weaved around the post at the same time.
Fantastic goal. Ball didn't hit ground. No free for mine.

I think it's hilarious people (including media who should know better) can think that's a throw. How do players kick the ball over their heads - by doing the same thing. Has never been against the rules - too many people love misery.

If you take away the argument about whether or not it was a throw and factor in the genius of Higgins quick thinking... 100% deliberate. That amounts to goal of the year for mine. but the AFL won't allow him to win it.

Luke Parkers bicycle kick goal in Round 1 was much more of a throw than Higgins (although I didn't think it at the time and still don't). Parker throws the ball up, waits a fair bit as it drops then kicks. Jack Higgins pretty much kicked the ball while it was at the top of its arc. Below is Parker's goal for reference.

Not just that but pretty much anyone who kicks a ball over their own head, they must throw the ball up to get it high enough, as opposed to placing it down on your foot as with normal kicks. Quite simply, Jack Higgins goal was simply one of the best goals I've ever seen.

I was sitting right in line of the goal posts for his goal, goal of the year for mine, everyone around me couldn't believe it.

Umpires gave it all clear, video ump cleared it as well so it a Goal
Possibly Goal of the Year for higlet

Smart is young Higlet.

And in abundance I reckon.

He reminds me of a little mini me of JR when it comes to football nous..

And so young..

Will be become a tiger favourite

It happens every game when a player is tackled and just gets his boot to ball as he is being held. Ball is dropped onto boot, often from a greater distance than higgy's, nobody bats an eyelid. Genius.
