Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

What a sook.
Bye Glacier Jack.
Eff me.
Lucky Pinjarra, Fridge and Caddyshack didn't throw the toys out of the cot after missing Grand Finals.
Simply put young Glacier Jack, they are Richmond men, and you are not!
End of.

sad to see him go.
I'm only a bit sad that we didn't get better value out of the Saints and make a competitor pay a high price for a player they obviously believe makes them better. I would have done that deal with a bottom feeder; not a top 4-6 club.

I not too fussed about losing him otherwise. I reckon he's got a bit of a hide trying to dictate terms after only 3 years and after how well we have supported him through his difficulties.

C'est la vie.

Agree. We need to get someone like David King into the club....he's always right (in hindsight!).
Why use a first round on another small forward type when we had plenty. We loaded up on mids last year & need key forwards this year for a reason. Should have used that pick on one of those types.

I think we are more than happy with Dow and Ross as midfield anchors over the next decade. Jack will have a better career at Saints than with us. Actually quite astute by Higgins to leave now.
agree Lambie. Living in NSW it has always amazed me why some disgruntled AFL player (Dodo could be the catalyst) stops a player going to the club of choice and lands in the Federal Court blowing up the AFL draft and trading schemes as a restraint of trade. This happened in NSW some 20 years ago and why it is open season every year.

Fair call about the Richmond man.

For me it's like Jack has torched us a little bit here. ..... Pretty sure we stood by him when times were tough and would have thought the least he could do was to honour his contract and work his arse off to get back in the team.
Let's win the flag again with blokes who wanna be there!

I think we are missing the point a bit here. He asked to leave (despite attempts I think, to being talked out of it). Once a player wants out I cannot see any point in keeping him against his will. There are plenty of examples of clubs playing hardball and it backfiring. I think we have made it abundantly clear in recent years that we will facilitate the movement of fringe players to get more opportunity - and that's what this is. Despite his troubles, I think he was nearing his ceiling. We effectively get a future 2nd and an upgrade or 4 spots for him; which is not too bad.

Good result. Jack isn’t in our best 22 now, and with the development expected from RCD, Dow, Cumberland, Martyn and Ralphsmith, probably not in our best 30 in 2021.
Would have preferred their future 1st but we have done pretty well.
Wouldn’t surprise if we now trade 17 for a further future 1st.

Because recruiting for "those types" always work out when it comes to key forwards. I couldnt be bothered going back and checking who was available and then asking the club whether he was a *smile* or not and if not why didn't you recruit him. It is what it is. Take pick 17 and a future second rounder and move on (and watch the GF replay again).

I don't get the melts we backed this kid 100% during his injury and his decided to instead work harder and breake in the side just take the easy option must not have belief his not good enough , bit weake for me see ya later that's not Tiger way.

He is either slow' and therefore a future round 2 pick is overs, or he is not slow, in which case we should hold the line on a 1st?

No one is giving us a 1st round pick for a small player with questionable skills, no leg speed and with a serious recent medical issue.

Big time.

Hard to complain after 3 flags in 4 years, but this sort of stuff *smile* me a little bit.
*smile* me a lot - really lousy deal when he's a contracted player. Pretty pissed TBH
