Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

It reminds be of the Yarran trade with the blues, where we were holding out for pick 30. Ended up having to give up 19.

Dimma should be instructing Blair: "raise the fight"!

Luckily there’s smarter people then me running the show , however I think this a great chance to show we aren’t so nice , if they don’t cough up rd 1 pick , Jack can play in Vfl all next year and let him go for nothing , we can do anything we want , we need nothing

That's not the Tiger way. We're compassionate, loving, caring and connected.

We'd work with Jack to improve the deficiencies in the game. Ideally in a place where there is less pressure, like the VFL. At the end of 2021 we will sit down with Jack and re-evaluate the situation. If we think the best thing for Jack's well being is to move to a club with more senior opportunity, we'll help him get there.

Understand what you're saying but it's not how we operate. We treat our players as people, not inventory, and will try to accommodate anyone who wants out for more opportunities. The key is keeping players that want to be at the club, as they will contribute to the culture much more than some one forced to stay. Maintaining this culture amongst the playing group is more valuable than getting a higher pick. If you preach love and connection then you must live it, otherwise you would be collingwood.

I understand how we work gents and it’s beautifully, however the Higgins situation is completely different imho , club has gone above and beyond for him , and he just walks while contracted , plenty of clubs wouldn’t have kept him on . I believe he owes the club not the other way round . BEllis chased coin , don’t agree with it when your at the best club in the land , but understand. Jack’s just spat the dummy imho and I think the club has every right to do what’s best for them .

I doubt Balmey will be too connected if the Dwarf burners pee him off

Just keep it simple. Aints, you can have Higgins. Now just give us Butler back!

Nah they can keep him. We'll take Gresham though
Either would be better. It was another wasted 1st rounder selecting Higgins. No speed; no ferocity, weak kick. Too many midgets.
Aarts went past him this year anyway and still couldn't make the GF team.

Well said Harry.

Weve assembled 40 humans (plus dusty) who are all very good at footy. We treat them like humans.

We win premierships.

In a few more years, we win more premierships than anyone ever has before.

humanity is not really something you can do by halves

What I wrote is exactly what you suggested, just wrapped up in the Richmond Way Speak

Pick 17 or walk away. We’re not obliged to look after him. Weak as *smile* if there is anything else involved.
They bent us over with Butler, surely we’ve learnt our lesson with this mob.
Higgins is starting 22 at Saints as was Butler.
he can’t make the the seniors in the best team over the past 4 years but that shouldn’t diminish his value.
Sorry but most people are acting like he can’t get a game for a bottom 4 side.
FWIW I’d rather keep him. Yes he’s slow but the kid can play.

Yep, he can sure play. Worth pick 17 to the Saints so stare them the *smile* down.

I could almost tolerate it with any other team aside from the Saints (or Geelong and possible Carlton). The way they’re going about their business now really irks me. Like the whole AFL owes them a favour.

So if it is:
Pick swap 17 and 21 (2020)
St Kilda future second and future third
Richmond future fourth.

That probably gets the job done. Wouldn't care if we said no regardless.

LOL

Should be focused on best deal which is fair to all parties. Would prefer a straight swap for their future 1st, but if they won’t budge would accept first round swap plus their future 2nd.

Need to take this opportunity to establish a reputation. Not worsen it.

The 21 + jack for 17

Seems light.

But its entirely dependent on who we take with 17.

If the tigers do that, we can be pretty sure theres a player we want widely rated in the 17-20 range

On trading days - it should be mandatory training for the club officials to watch Clint Eastwood films like - the Good, the Bad and the Ugly such that they can engender true contempt without actually saying anything.

Also competency in spitting tobacco juice on people's shoes as an alternative trade offer response would also be beneficial. I.e.

St Kilda: "Would you release Jack Higgins for our future second?"
Richmond: [SPIT!]
St Kilda: "Was that a no?"
