Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

He joins the long list of first rounders wanting to leave.
Vickery. I would've driven him to VFL park. Properly the 3rd worse first rounder we wasted.
Deledio. What more can you say? Thanks Sandy...
Ottens.. We couldn't trade to save ourselves.
Ellis. The best of the lot, but was he ever a first rounder??
Lennon. Didn't he asked to ve traded after 2 yrs? Properly in the top 3 worse first rounders we have selected since Richard Lounder.

Higgins is every inch a late first rounder.

Value has held since he was drafted.

The club is reigning supreme atm but I will be annoyed if we try and pull another goodwill move a la Butler. Confident we’ll just shrug and back him in for 2021.

I'm starting to warm to the idea that the saints are trying to get Higgo on the cheap. Probably thinking we are an easy target because we gave them Butler for a bag of chips.

If Jye Caldwell is worth a first rounder so is Higgo. This is a guy who has played 43 games in 3 years in the team that is the hardest in the AFL to get into and that's despite having his brain bleeding issue. It's also not like he played poorly, for most of the time he was well worth his place in the side.

First rounder and give them a later pick as something back

Totally agree with everything you say. Whether he's best 22 is debatable but he's best 26 and as we know you need a SQUAD to win a premiership, not just a team.

The Saints clearly don't want to give up their 1st, so offered a 2nd but it would appear that this won't have been a take it or leave it offer. If thats all they want to offer, surely they can see the futility of it.

Trade period this year seems even more bizarre from a valuation perspective than previous years.

It is weird but with Dodoro doing a lot of the valuing that’s what we get. There was a story that other clubs were interested in Higgo so maybe it’s not just the saints.

My first reaction is "ungrateful!" I think his manager spoke to him, being a saint's fan the plan is easy to shallow. I'm really disappointed with Jack. Barrett said on trade radio that Conners gets his deals done. For me its st kilda's no 1 pick (current or future) or no trade.
I'm in this basket too. We stood by him with a life threatening injury when we could have delisted him as a risk. Earn your stripes mate, don't just expect to be gifted games.

Not as much ticker in the young fella as I'd expect. If the trade doesn't work out our way, we keep him. We make him work his ass off, and say you want to be a senior footballer, earn it.

Higlet was statistically dominant in U18’s before being drafted to a club that doesn’t care about stats. Maybe he believes he’d pretty easily hit his own personal statistical targets at a normal club? Obviously nobody buys the opportunity story.

Our gameplan probably does make individual players look worse on paper than they could appear elsewhere. If his goal is to make as much money as possible, he should go. He won’t have Dusty, Trent, Jack, etc feeding him at another club though.

I believe that Jack has been offered the choice to explore his options, we want future picks and as we will be drafting Maurice jnr. we will have an excess of smalls.

Jack is still a highly valued payer and a Richmond man so I can't see Richmond pushing him but encouraging him to check the market.

Should we not get a decent pick for him there is no pressure and we keep him for another season.

I agree. Give us your first round and we will give you Higgins and a late pick for this years draft.

Just out of left field do think the girlfriend might be a behind this change, she seems like trouble.

That’s a bit harsh. She responded with one post after weeks of accusations (Rance), and made one (justifiable) post about noise in the hub, which was then ridiculed and amplified by the footy community. She was largely unlucky.

Is it possible Jack may want to leave because he felt she (and he) were not supported by the club, like Brooke Cotchin complained? Or perhaps the club criticised her to him, implying she was trouble?

Who's going to knock them back?
Jones 450
Hill 800
Hannebury 800
Howard 650
Crouch 650
Ryder 400
Bulter 270.

easy money

Far more likely the ole man. No Damir Dokic but at the extreme end for an AFL parent
