Brett Ratten sacked

Leathlean and Bassatt using a lot of weasel words and avoidance in trying to explain Rattens demise.

Lethlean gave him the contract didn't he? He should be the next in line for one in the neck.

Simon Lethlean should be shown the door too, the trouble is another door would open for him at AFL house.
afl had to appear strong in sacking him for inappropriate actions against women but then he immediately “finds” a job as head of football with the saints - no double standards or boys club here). Saints then sign Hannebery on big $$$$. Hill and Ryder also on reportedly big $$$. Leathlean after immediate results, which didn’t happen. Lethlean now CEO and imho is just trying to make himself significant and is only marking time until he is welcomed back amongst the ole boys club at the AFL.

This from just 3 short months ago.

"St Kilda coach Brett Ratten has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until at least the end of 2024."

St Kilda president Andrew Bassat said Ratten was the right person to continue to lead the team."

“As the leader of our men’s program, Brett has secured significant buy-in from his fellow coaches, staff and players alike,” Bassat said."

“In addition to his strong football IQ, our players appreciate his ability to develop strong relationships, which he uses as a foundation to challenge each individual to get better and to deliver their role for the team.

"This balance, and the ability to unite his coaches, players and staff in a relentless quest for excellence makes Brett the best person to lead us towards our much longed-for second premiership.”

Lethlean and Gill are very, very close mates.

Yeah. In Warner's book he reveals how GM was ropeable that the story got leaked, not that the sleazy stuff happened. Also I'd love to know a) how much the AFL paid the PR firm to launder SL's image, the media blitz about how great he is and how someone that good cannot be lost to footy, fair dinkum, it was relentless, PR is expensive and b) how they hid the funds. Probably just appeared in the budget as "PR" in with all their other 'legit' PR campaigns.

How can a football review end in a sacking of a coach and a promotion of the football manager to CEO.

Yes; without any of the premiership success.

For a bloke who has never achieved the ultimate success as a player, coach or administrator he certainly has an over inflated opinion of his ability and for some bizarre reason continues to wield influence over that club. Probably just one of the number of reasons why they are so perennially rubbish.

So this ^^^^^

St Kilda is a rabble. What a waste of money. It’s the list which is their problem. Makes it more bizarre how we capitulated to them earlier in the season.

Three months is a long time in football, um coaching. ( think it’s 100 days so less than 3 months).

This has the CEO & AFL prints over since the AFL assist StKilda substantially.

Still don’t understand if true than Ratten will be paid 6 months of his 2 year contract…

Did I hear right that he agreed to that contract that in the event he got sacked within a certain timeframe he would only be paid 6 months by the club.

So who pays the rest?

AFL?

AFLCA should be getting involved in this if true. Who signs something like this if correct? If it was ticked off by the AFL then to me they appear to be the ones to pay the rest out.

Wrong?

So who is the coach who stabbed Ratts? I know of one !

Why not release the findings of the report?

Why do the supporters have to wait for a few days?

So they can announce the coach Monday????,

I reckon Figgy would be the most likely candidate for that reason
Why would he take the job ?

Probably the worst coaching job in the AFL even worse than the Norf job atleast they know they are *smile* and accept it
the Aints actually believe they are in the premiership window

The Saints are in desperate need of a new board, someone needs to put a ticket together, people with integrity.

I know who those people are, Grant Thomas as CEO & Ricky Nixon as President, you know it makes sense.

An employment lawyer would have a field day sueing the Saints over this. How can they can sign him for 2 years only a few months back and Ratten only get 6 months wages.
Can almost guarantee that the AFL would be covering the remaining 18 months to avoid the Saints or the AFL being dragged through court and the negative publicity that comes with ruining peoples lives due to incompetent club management.
Depends on what is in his contract

That’s why for the previous 2-3 years they traded their picks and paid ( overpaid) for players they thought would get them there.

It’s like us in 2001 when we made the PF against the Lions and got smashed after quarter time and thought in 02 we would get into another PF or GF and recruited for it. History shows we fell into a heap.

Same with StKilda. Overrated their list and now are paying for it.

They need to go to the draft for the next two at least and stop the shortcuts.

If I was a supporter I would be quite upset and what is occurring.

Don’t think Buckley would get back into coaching next year. Easy job in the media …

Harvey ? Maybe. A favourite son.

Doubt Lenny.

Cameron?

Left it quite late unless he is already earmarked for the job.

I reckon it is……
