Brett Deledio (merged)

I hope it's not true.

I was just passing on info that was given to me from someone I trust.

I haven't posted it looking for attention or to stir the pot. (Never done it in the past and not about to start now!)

I can't see any way he would be able to get to Carlton, so would definitely have to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

The sooner he signs on again the happier I'll be.

something might have "happened" over the last couple of weeks

lids had a steely look in his eye last week, he played like a man possessed

Certainly did not play like someone wanting to leave last week.

He was doing the hard, unnoticeable stuff. The type of work you do for your mates and your team.

Hard to see him leaving IMO.

I can't see Lids leaving. People are getting nervous because we havn't heard he has signed but we havn't heard anyone else has signed either.

Lids next contract is likely to be 1.3 to 1.4 + over 3 years. With all their first picks playing well plus Fev and Judd to pay there is no way Carlton could match that and short of swapping one of those players, no way they could afford to pay for him.

Carlscum can afford to pay Judd and Fev what they like.
Theres plenty of vacancies at Vizee or some other company. ;) 8)

Lets see if he plays like that tomorrow as we play the Roos & not someone he is rumoured to be heading to.

Carlton are already at 100% of the salary cap, not sure how they could afford Lids at all
As for Visy, I'm not sure if you've been living under a rock, but Pratt died, I can hardly see them throwing away millions without *smile* to make it all happen.

If they want Lids they can give us Gibb and Murphy......otherwise I'm sure someone else will be interested if Lids is really keen on leaving.

Hell Carlton would just about be the toughest target to get too, as they would have to do some serious trading to get it over the line. They certainly won't have pick 1 to offer up this year.

Deledio 2/3rds to go

As Deledio notched up his 100 th game today he is most likely a third through his career.

For a player so talented I would give him a 5/10.

This is based on
- no team sucesss
- B&F last year was a joke. Richo had a far better year. He was top 5 but not the winner in my opinion
- Out of those 100 games I reckon he has had about 5 BOG performances. Compare that to a Franklin.

The next 100 games will define him. If he and the club can reach a grand final and a couple of years of deep finals then he could go down as a champion. Otherwise I see him being on a par with J Bowden, that of a Richmond champion but basically underated by every other club

i think you are waaaaaaayyyy off the mark and remind me of someone that used to post here

Re: Deledio 2/3rds to go

I must say that I am a shocked at the constant crits on Lids, and praising of Bling (who is being praised for nearly playing at the level that MUST be expected of an AFL player picked at 4 in a very good draft).

Lids is the future of our club, and I am extremely concerned that he will chose to jump ship because of the perpetual debacle (RFC) that has surrounded his career.

That is not his fault. Besides Richo, he has never been lucky enough to have had a single quality player next to him on a weekly basis.

Again, not his fault. He was very very good in long patches last year.

Franklin is a freak, and it is very unfair to compare Lids to a player of this obvious quality.

I am the first to admit that Lids' form has been up and down this year but to label him winning the b&f last year as a joke is an insult. He and Richo were the clear standouts in our team last year. And he was easily more consistent ALL year.

And your Franklin comparison is absolute bollocks but I dont have any more time to spend on your boring post.

BOGs usually go to a player from the winning team so that would make sense.

Re: Brett Deledio

I was at the game last night and have kept a close eye on him since mid year when his enthusiasm was non existant.

In saying that, It was Deledio's best and most complete game he has played for the club imo.

Not only was he playing the inside midfielder role and getting the ball out, he was also tackling and running hard both ways.

His impressive inside work was clean and was also done against some of the better and stronger bodies last night, not against a rubbish opponent.

There was so many times he got the ball out or was free and unable to be found by poor disposal, his game was potentially better, but for some of his team letting him down.

Hats off to you Brett, keep it up :clap

and to think Wally the f-wit said he wasnt a midfielder :boxing
