Lets stop talking about that donut, and get the thread back to Lids.

Someone mentioned earlier that he is waiting until the new coach is locked in before signing.

I have no issue with this.

If my boss changed, I'd be wanting out too if they replaced him with a complete and utter tool. After all, how would you be if you were Deledio, you resign, and then find out your stuck playing under Gary Ayres for two years?

Sign a decent coach, and it will all be sweet 8)

All the more reason why its so important to get this right, but looking at the list of prospective applicants even the RFC couldn't get it wrong this time surely

You trade 26+ yo players who won't be around for the successful period, not 22 yo midfielders who will be the core, experienced players for the next tilt. If you do trade players at Lids' age, we will again end up with an age gap, and so then coaches will trade for players and the whole merry-go-round starts again.

Gee, reminds me of a Richo re 90's - yep, cant get rid of him. We are going to win a premiership with him in the team where did that get us?

So, you want us to trade one or more of our good players at 22 or thereabouts, cos we're crap, and you can't see us being successful in 10 years' time? What if in 5 years' time this all happens again? Or the player we replace Lids with doesn't end up being as good?

I'm not advocating keeping all our players, but trading players like Lids just shouldn't be considered unless the deal is so much in our favour. Otherwise, we'll continue to have age gaps and teams full of 18-22 yo's with potential!

Hmm, lets trade all our players because individually none of them will win us a premiership. Silly. Deledio is very important to Richmond's potential future. What are we going to trade him for? Hope of some unknown youngsters becoming better than him? Deledio is in the right age group for our next stint at success. Hopefully we're more successful than our attemptsin the last 25 years.

The other issue GO is our lack of players 24-28. Trading Lids will just add to that dilemma come 2011+.

I'm not sure where this obsession of Deledio leaving is coming from. Is it paranoia? Bloody hell relax people.

I wasn't either and I asked around. It's not paranoia!

Was told by a friend in the footy department that Brett (and even moreso his old man) want out to Carlton but he's not 100% gone.

The prospect of a new coach has him sitting on his hands at the moment, but he doesn't want to be part of another full rebuild.

If we tank and don't win another game for the year, it may just provide the impetus for Brett to say see you later!

Bit of a dilemma really.

Tank and maybe pick up Scully but lose Deledio or win and start building a winning culture?

If that is indeed the case, he can *smile* right off.

Ottens moved because we offered him peanuts to stay.

Not according to my source that was pretty close to the horses mouth. I was told Otto really disliked being at the club and wanted out. I posted that a few months before he went and nobody believed it. I don't believe it was ever about the money.

Congrats on 100 games Lids. Your best is still to come. I can't wait to see it in the yellow and Black.....Go Tiges!!!!!

Doesn't sound too good.

Why would Lids be talking to anyone at the Tigers about it if it was the case?

If he wants to go to Carlton then he'll need to convince them to give up Kreuzer + their first pick........good luck Brett!

He can't get to Carlton. What a load this rumour is. Melbourne, Freo or WC only if we play hard ball. Good luck to him if he wants to go there.
