Apart from the flu why play him in the backline and then easily taken out of the play almost to the full back line by picken....Not sure if u could see that properly on the TV but he was so taken back to the full back line that Eade wouldve been licking his lips....

it only took wallace 3 quarters to move him to ff

Re: Cousins shows how over-rated Deledio is!

I don't think Cuz shows how overated Delidio is, I think what it shows is how hards lids has to work to take his game to that next level and join the ranks of the elite. Cuz simply shows us that Lids aint there yet.

Re: Cousins shows how over-rated Deledio is!

Lids and Cousins are being used as different kinds of players and  it's drawing a long straw to use one to put the other down. They have been used in different roles by the coach. Terry hasn't done Lids too many favours this season really.

Lids has far more game time than Cousins.  There's something missing when a main player only has half the game time on the ground.  Also Lids is being heavily tagged, he has to work out how to overcome the close attention, but other players can take advantage of the fact he's the one singled out for such close attention.  Opposition coaches obviously rate him.

Lids was a deserving B&F winner last season.  I can't see Ben being a B&F winner at RFC unless he improves dramatically.  No matter how good Ben has been in the past, and despite his class, he's not a shadow of the player he was at the Weagles.  Over all this season Brett would have contributed more to the team than Ben imo, but they both have their roles and to use Cousins as an example of how over-rated Lids is is ridiculous imo.

Well said Gus.

I think that Cuz shows the whole playing group that they aint there yet, including himself.

When Ben adjusts to the modern game, and regains his match fitness he will be sensational AGAIN.

Same for Mark Coughlan. When Cogs gets his match fitness back and adjusts to the modern game he will be a superstar AGAIN.

We just need to be patient and keep our expectations real.

Re: Cousins shows how over-rated Deledio is!

I was listening to 3LO at the game on Friday night, and they were commenting on how much motivating and advice Cuz was giving each time he went to the bench. I can't remmber who the commentator was that was down there, but he was amazed at how much leadership he was showing. He was even talking to big Patto at one stage in the 2nd quarter. Is it a surprise that Patto then kicked 2 goals when he went back on before half time?

This is why Cuz needs to be playing next year. We don't have much in terms of onfield leadership, and even if he only plays 50% of game time, what he can teach the likes of Lids and about gut running, and reading the play can only help us in the future.

Re: Cousins shows how over-rated Deledio is!

One other noticeable thing about lids from friday night was the amount of ball he dropped. I rate his marking ability, but he dropped a couple of sitters particularly early on, that if taken, would have boosted his confidence. He played a shocker, looked like he pooed his pants, but hopefully he learns from it and bounces back.

He has something wrong with one of his hands and or finger, has spent a bit of time off the ground the past few weeks having treatment. I heard he was playing with a broken hand but cant confirm 100%.

There are so many dud posters on this site its just crazy, "Sir" being one of them, ill just mention last week lids BOG and Sir doesnt say didly squat, now last night as many wouldnt know and thats fair enough....after the game being in the rooms i was told lids was struggling with the flu, i thought to myself why the hell play him, he looked flat as a tack all night, he could not run, in his last 6 weeks uve seen him running hard taking the man on and setting up plays....i said to one of the players initially before being told about he flu why he wasnt playing majority in the midfield and that was the reason...What irks me is im a fan of lids but if u have the flu or an illness that will prevent you from playing to ur capacity then u should not play..

Apart from the flu why play him in the backline and then easily taken out of the play almost to the full back line by picken....Not sure if u could see that properly on the TV but he was so taken back to the full back line that Eade wouldve been licking his lips....

Thanks for the explanation. He definitely appeared hampered by something else other than the hand although he dropped 2 marks on leads he would normally swallow so that is affecting him as well.

His game against Freo showed he can gut run and play with pain.

Agree he shouldn't be playing if not right.

Please enough excuses for Deledio its time to turn the heat up on this individual. His season has been pathetic.

His workrate tonight was appalling. Too put it simply he is a downhill skier. If he wants out then show him the door. I am sick of watching these so called stars parade around in a Richmond jumper.

Some advice for you Deledio, forget about pulling out the mirror during the week to see if your hair is in place. Instead how about you watch footage of Daniel Jackson to see what guts and determination is. He got battered by the St. Kilda players tonight but he kept on coming at them. You have more skill in your little finger than Jackson but it counts for nothing if you are mentally weak individual.

Pull your finger out. If you are not up to the challenge then look at going to another club next year becasue us supporters have had a gutful.

wallace just said that deledio is never going to be an ELITE midfielder. there goes another banik & lounder.
but he reckons edwards is going to be star, he must be drunk

Uhoh i have been pretty positive on Delidio, I may have to revisit my thoughts.

Lids has fantastic skill but need to earn the right to be a midfielders. Mids are the best players in the team and Lids is not working hard enough to be considered that. Play him of a HBF or HFF until he can show he has the tank/guts for the job in the middle.

With Brett it's going to be a hard one.His manager will be fielding big offers from rival clubs, but are we willing to match them given his performances so far.

what a dill wallace is, brereton said we cant afford to keep him out of the midfield due to his ball use and wallace tries to counter that by saying i see him more as a lead up fwd, what the *smile*? u played him, HB, FF, wing and every other position you *smile*en peanut...

Anthony hutchinson then says "interesting" like, is that so terry, i agree with brereton in other words, then finishes off by saying he is now in the midfield.

ur a *smile*en bottom wipe wallet

Deledio is going backwards at 100miles an hour. He will never be a good player in an ordinary team he needs to be feed the ball in space. I suspect he knows this and so does his manager.

No doubt that several clubs will have a massive crack at him and I suspect he will seriously consider them. Collingwood and Essendon in particular.
