Aside from one kick which was a horrible clanger, Cousins was typically all class tonight. Handballs always go to the chest of a team mate so they dont have to bend down or stretch up! Always releases handballs after considering options. The manner in whic hhe evades tacklers and hold on before releasing also draws players towards him, creating space for the receiver.
Deledio -
it's easier to beat a tag when you're playing in a team with a good mid field sharing the ball around. In that regard, he's always been up against it at Richmond. Having said that, who the hell is it at Richmond that teaches our mid fielders (Deledio included) to stand at stoppages flat footed waiting for it to be hit down their throat.
All our mids can again watch Cousins as an example. As the ball is bounced, he moves. If the ball is not hit to his side, then big deal - you ain't going to get every clearance. If it is, then he's receiving on the run and breaking loose. If the ball i thit to a mid fielder standing flat footed, all you end up with is a tackle and second stoppage.
LASTLY - I HATE THE FACT THAT NO TEAM IN THIS COMPETITION HANDBALLS SO MUCH TO TEAM MATES STANDING WITH THEIR BACK TO OUR OWN GOAL! WHAT PURPOSE DOES IT SERVE?
We cant handle pressure as it is without this sort of hand ball which puts our selves under pressure. If i was the new coach i'd drag every players as soon as tey do it withou tgood reason. It would mean that they'd be rotating so fast through the bench that the satilite tracking the player's movement would spin out of control and probably land somewhere in Egypt, maybe even taking more off the nose of the sphinx (if thats possible), but we have to get out of our game - NOW!
