If Geelong take a tumble this could be the best trade since the Hogg trifecta.

I'm not convinced by Geelong. Potential disaster there.

Not that much youth coming through, lot of question marks.

If Danger goes down it will be over for the Cats, it may even be the moment when the Wells legacy comes to a grinding halt.

But back on this year's draft, if by some miracle we land a talent like Brander, it will be a landmark moment in the fortunes of the RFC. Throw in Balta or even an A grade mid like Higgins and our squad starts to look like a genuine top 4 contender. Things are looking up in my opinion and I'm quietly confident that Clarke is the man to nail our draft selections.

I think between him and Balme (i think Balmey was involved in the Geelong/GWS and Del fiasco somehow...) we did well at last years draft, to early for me to make a call but looks a good partnership so far..

Unfortunately with that job we don't really know for some years and thats the challenge i guess for many clubs as to when to pull the trigger on some of the recruiters..

I wouldn't be counting our chickens. We're Richmond remember. If God forbid say Fyfe becomes available, i could see us offering both our 1st round picks for the quick-fix that we so love doing; even Prestia is a much smaller example of this kind of trading. I know it's long odds to happen but if Fyfe did become available and we did offer both our 1st round picks, that will be the end for me with this club.

Sign up Martin. Keep our draft picks. Go hard for Fyfe as a free agent.

That should be our order of priority this season off field.

Fyfe is worth 2 1st rounders...

Agree his best he is. Question marks about how he comes back from his 12 month injury. Might need to be discounted unless he comes back seamlessly.

Fyfe has a big body and thats alot of stress on a leg, Nathan Browns was worse so long bow to draw but he was never the same, grow our own kids for mine

Once you start getting soft tissue injuries at his age they don't leave you alone.A bit like your mother in law!

That was the trade that really put the lid on the Roys coffin.

Not only had they lost Gary Pert, Paul Roos and Dicky Osborne but they also lost Ross Lyon, Grant Lawrie, Timmy Pekin, Dougie Barwick, Matt Armstrong, and Ken Hinkley!!

Add Broderick and Gale its no wonder they hit the skids so fast over a short time.

A whole lot of top line Lions there.

Don't forget Johnny Blakey who was one of the most underrated players ever. And Alastair Lynch was pretty handy as well.

It was a very fast capitulation, their last year was the least competitive football I've ever seen from a VFL/AFL club.

Wasn't all Fitzroy's fault, the evil 'powers that be' wanted them dead and buried.

Yep. The VFL/AFL introduced the rule that clubs had to pay a minimum 95% of the salary cap to prevent Fitzroy asking players to play for less to help the club survive.

Don't worry we were on Oakley's hit list as well. He underestimated just how loyal and committed Richmond supporters are. If ever there was a group that deserves to see their club become successful it's the Richmond faithful

I read Oakleys autobiography and I can't recall Richmond being on his hot list.

It was a great decision to trade him, even if he does win the flag there.

He was never going to get his body right at tigerland. The question is whether he can get it right at the giants.

Don't hold your breath,
