My word he is oldie and ur right he didn’t put in another ave game...

There were posters last week who were happy to have a go at lids and sure it was an ave game but gee just rapt for him to come out today and play a great game...

That 3rd Qtr his energy and desire to win the ball was just fantastic...The whole midfield just got on top and ran in waves...

One thing that made me happy was Lids really made the play and created space for others...A lot of times when he handballed off i saw him at least attempt a block or shepherd which typically as a team we dont do a lot off...
His 30 disposals i dont recall one turn over....

I was one Astute. Very disappointed with Lids last week.

Great game this week.

Re: Brett Deledio

Lids had a shocker last week but it happens. He is 22 years old in his 5th season and he's in our best 2-3 players. He is one of the very few class acts we have and people potting him are kidding themselves. If only we had a few more like him instead of the plethora of total lemons on our list.

Great game today Lids.

Yep. Thought Brett really stood tall today and wouldn't have looked out of place in the starting midfield for the Geelong Cats.
One of his better efforts.
Very pleasing to see him bounce back hard. :)

look not to blow his horn but he really tried to stamp his authority in that 3rd qtr, stood tall so to speak...

Re: Brett Deledio

We could have Gary Ablett and some would start writing him off after 1 bad game. Lids is a great player. He's not boisterous but he does his job almost every week. It's hard to actually believe he's making such an impact just shy of 22. He is our future captain for sure and will only continue to improve with experience and maturity.

Today he had a quiet start. It is no coincidence though that when he cranked it up in the second, the Tigers started playing better. He is critical to the future and we should stop micro-analysing and nit-picking. He will never be as hard inside player as some others but with his skill and poise do you really want him inside all the time dishing off the handballs anyway. We need to play him through his best assets and make sure he is the one on many occassions passing it down the throat of a team mate kicking inside 50.

Can't complain at all about Lids. Wish we had one or two more of him.

Re: Brett Deledio

Someone said he was tagged-out by Ling in the 4th quarter. Can anyone confirm?

dont think so, i was there and didnt see ling sitting on him....From the half way mark of the last qtr the majority of our players dipped off somewhat, perhaps ran out of fuel in the end but me thinks the cats just created more space and were very polished when it mattered...

Re: Brett Deledio

I think people may be confusing deserved criticism of his game against Carlton with writing him off. I think it is fair that he cops it hard when he has a bad game, simply because he is better than that. That is the cross he must bear, that because he is so much better than his team-mates, he will garner more criticism for turning in the same performance as them.

No here is no confusion. There are one or two suggesting that Lids in not performing as well as he should full stop. We forget that he has not quite turned 22 yet. There'd only be one or two in the past who have performed to his level in the past. Based on this Deledio will become an elite player. That's the tag that has been placed on him and what as you say will garner (nice word by the way) more criticism, which is unfortunate.

No, I think you aren't quite getting what I posted. Criticising his performance against Carlton isn't the same as 'writing him off'.

Re: Brett Deledio

He was terrible in the 1st half, played a blinder in the 3rd and went back in his shell in the last. I wouldn't call that a good game but his 3rd quarter certainly demonstrates what he is capable of doing. The question is can he do it for 4 quarters on a consistent basis?

Re: Brett Deledio

I don't think he went back into his shell deliberately - I think he ran out of gas getting us back in it in the third quarter, as one of the driving forces in our comeback.

I see so now you've changed your story. You are only crticising his Carlton game?

Managed 10 or so possessions in the 2nd quarter. What are you after 15 possessions a quarter every quarter? G Ablett only managed the sum of 8 possessions in 2 quarters. Players are rarely consistent for 4 quarters in today's game. Deledio is doing fine.

Brett Deledio - Great answer after a disgusting first round but still went missing. Still not the superstar we hoped for.

Pulled this from the votes thread. No having a go bob, but what more are you looking for at this stage?
