Its a pointless statement. I mean, well, yeah, of course. I believe everyone who plays, coaches or follows footy would say the same (ron burgundy voice) But it doesn't follow that individual awards are meaningless. But whatevs

I am not interested in awards of any kind, including the Brownlow. I am only interested in the next Richmond premiership – got it.

Deledio is gone; get over it and focus on the players running out to play for the Tigers in 2017.

agree on the second line, I'm over it. But the first bit is still pointless grandstanding. Individual awards or no, good individual players still stand out, and you have to have them to win the thing.

Zips I have to say that whilst I disagree with almost all of you're player assessments, you're posts are by far the most efficiently amusing on PRE. Seriously have me in fits of laughter.

Btw, are there's any players in any club that you actually rate ??

Many of the best AFL players who have played the game have not won individual awards but have played in premierships. That is not pointless grandstanding and if you ask all those players that fall into that category what they would have preferred winning, I suggest they would all say a premiership; hands down.

Give me a premiership for the Tigers over any personal awards won by any of our players; I’d take that any day of the week. And you call that pointless grandstanding. GR would not agree with you, neither would Tommy Hafey, or Royce Hart, or Matty Knights or Richo!

Sorry but this part alone stood out and thats 99% BS these days... They have B&Fs, they have goal kicking awards, theres all sort of awards, the AFL best players win them...

I can accept good AFL players dont win them that often, but the AFLs best certainly do, hence them being the best.....

I really dislike wasting my time banging on about this but do the $@@%@ math’s. How many Bulldogs won personal awards versus playing throughout the year and contributing to a premiership? Now do the maths of the last 20 years and add up those on the lists of the clubs that won premierships versus those that won personal awards and guess what? Get it. Many great footballers (I wish a few of them were playing at the Tigers now!) don't win awards; but they play in premierships. A premiership for me hands down; any day of the week.

Wont be noticed because he missed a lot of 2016. 2016's effort is what happens when we lose one of our best players for extended periods.

Do you think?
The fact that he played 11 and missed 11 gives a good base to compare the stats .....
6-5 with him, 2-9 without.

That kinda implies we'd have ended 12-10 with a full season with him and 4-18 without.
12-10 would be just another fair-to-middling RFC 9th. Maybe we would be better off without him in the long run :)

I think I wrote that wrong or didn't come out as intended. My point was we may not notice he's gone in 2017 because he was gone a lot of 2016. But the loss of Lids was noticeable from 2015 to 2016

If Lids wins a premiership medal with GWS in 2017 does he suddenly become a better player? Of course not but that is the way he will be seen by some.

If he stays fit he will star for them. What a luxury to have a player of his class and talent essentially as nothing more than cream on the cake.

Like others I have moved on. As A tiger supporter I am now more interested in Prestia's knee, Lennon's motivation, Chris yarran's comeback and how Caddy can help our midfield.

Been plenty of crap players carried along in great teams n won premierships for doing three fifths of bugger all.

Pointless arguments going round in circles for no great relevance.
Simple facts, Lids is a club champion, he's been a premium quality AFL player all his career n played it in a crap quality team, hence plenty of personal plaudits but no team glory.

If anyone bothered to check through the Brisvegas or Dawkthorn threepeat teams or even the Cats n Swannies teams of the last decade there'll be a fair handfull of nuffers in all those teams Lids could easily replace.

Just a simple matter of wrong club n wrong time. Doesn't alter the quality or talent of the player.

Interesting and potent looking forward 6 at a pinch for the Giants.

Cameron, Patton, Stevie J, Green, Dev Smith and Deledio

looks alright on paper, but wont none of them will get a kick against

What crap. How many years would it take you to decide you were at the wrong club at the wrong time – 12 years? The man played within his comfort zone for years at the Tigers and got very well rewarded in the process. Hell he even picked up a few personal awards along the way with hardly raising a sweat.

Coming to end his career and he makes a decision – I’m outta here. I want a premiership. And many on here call him a superstar. Take off the rose coloured glasses and follow the Tigers in 2017 without Deledio. An let's see what happens.

Agree.
Great trade, veteran in a struggling team to a young team in GF window with lots of draft picks to trade.
Cant rate until we can rate the picks received.

On par with Bulldogs Griffen trade.
'GWS has bowed to the Western Bulldogs' demands and traded Tom Boyd for Ryan Griffen and the Dogs' pick No.6'.
Griffen taken pick 3 in same draft Delideo taken pick 1.

I don't agree. The rumblings from the onfield leaders over the last couple of years have grown louder. Deledio was one of a handful clearly dissatisfied with the game plan - whatever that was - and made his feelings known quietly behind the scenes. The fact that he's the only one to have left (as we know Jack made some enquiries elsewhere) is something of a surprise.

As for Deledio 'hardly raising a sweat' I acknowledge the flippancy of your comment.

Morton was average with us but a star at the Swans!

Well I guess that must be because he's a footballer. Most of them are hardly rocket scientists n struggle to work out that a club is going nowhere n they might need to move elsewhere if they want a chance at finals success.
Pretty sure there's been a couple of hundred players n even some stars as well at Richmond over the last thirty five years that were simply to stupid, lazy n comfortable to do anything more than turn up for a few games n perhaps win a personal gong or two. Certainly weren't many of them around that bothered to win us any flags.

Knowing the media they will just point the finger at the RFC again
