I have always been a massive fan of Lids. Heard from a very reliable source who works at the club in a position that understands how players tick.....that Brett leaving is not a bad thing.......

Less chance of players rowing in a different direction now that he is gone......onwards and upwards at Tigerland....we need a champion team!
unbelievable!! heard from a source at the club.....amazing the rubbish that is being thrown about.

Richmond has truly become a dysfunctional club. We have a situation where a coach after 7 years has created at best a mid-level team. Hardwick has preserved with lazy footballers (Vickery), serial non-performers (Edwards) and in tandem with the recruiting team has selected players who couldn’t cut it at other clubs (Miles excluded) to build the best team he has had in that 7 years. The same team that nose-dived in the 2016 season; who played as individuals and who were not interested in the last few games. And the powers that be at Richmond, meaning Gale and Richardson extended this fools contract.

Meanwhile we have Deledio who never rose to champion status because Deledio has always been about Deledio and he plays soft. For all those Tiger “crying hearts” out there he was never the player you could build a premiership team around and that myth never eventuated anyway. With the blessing of a failed coach who must be laughing all the way to his bank, Deledio, if you believe the crap written about football these days, loved the club so much he went seeking a premiership at a loathsome, AFL created organization whose very existence is questionable.

So, a useless coach moves on a talented but selfish, soft Tiger player (who really loves the Tigers and for reasons best known to Deledio didn’t love the club enough to reignite his last few years of football leading the new young Tiger cubs to glory) which defines the culture at the RFC as what? You tell me; something or many things are very wrong down at Punt Road.

b22, you're great at telling us what you consider to be rubbish but you haven't yet offered an alternative version of events. What can you tell us about why Lids is no longer a Tiger.

Not convinced Deledio looked happy today at his GWS presser
He went through the normal I want to play in a good side but IMO body language said something else

I have no idea really but I suspect there have been some relationship fractures with Lids at the tigers. It's a workplace and people don't always like each other or agree with each other in a workplace.

One thing that is clear however is that Lids is going to miss the fans and the roar at the MCG, he said it in his last message on instagram. I don't care what anyone says we have the loudest roar of any footy club in the game! Tiger fans are awesome supporters at games and when he starts playing in front of 10000 people at spotless he will miss that part of being a Richmond player even more.

He's got a family & a young daughter, this would be a big life change and a pretty stressful time I'd imagine for a player who's been in the one place for 12 years.

Maybe, we'll find out one day.

Buyer's remorse, strange environment. He'll get over it once he starts training with the new group.

This is the most ridiculous post I have read in a long time, you really don't understand at all, such a narrow barrackers opinion.....do you think players shouldn't look after their future... to stay loyal....I can tell you clubs do not show any loyalty when it comes down to it. Stop judging players on hearsay. If you think everybody in any football club likes everyone else then you have never been involved in a football club. Also I'm not sure I would be trusting what afl club administrators say to be true.

Been a little too busy to respond until now, but, as they say, 'riposte is a dish best served cold.' A slight modification there.
But, firstly perhaps you needed to note the context for my post on Deledio. I was responding to Harry's post in which he asked, "Why did deledio want to leave?" Harry prefaced that question with this: "Changing deodorant can't mask the stink and the entire place needs a full knockdown and rebuild."
I don't share Harry's excessive cynicism, but wanted to point out it was Deledio's decision for his reasons; not because RFC wanted to throw him out.
So I attempted to provide an answer based on the best deduction possible on the information available. I pointed out that what Steven Wells from Geelong said first on SEN about the time it all came out about Lids definitely being on the move, was corroborated by Balme of RFC a day or too later.

We now have Lids confirming this himself - "Deledio said he decided to seek a new home to reinvigorate his career and rediscover his love for the game." He instructed his manager to make enquiries basically, preferring the Cats for his new home.

Sorry it was all so ridiculous to you. Thought it was simply putting the facts together; just connecting the dots really. Proven totally correct you may have noticed. Never made silly comments on players not being able to choose their future, nor loyalty, nor the reverse - of clubs'. Not judging much either; just pointing out how it all went down. Stating some facts.

So B22, since you love a bit of hyperbole: retrospectively, I think your response is the most superlatively, absolutely ludicrous one I've ever heard. I think you have a narrow, something-that-rhymes with 'barrackers' opinion. FYI, I have been involved with football clubs for many years over my life and know about rifts and group cliques. As it turns out, what the two football club administrators said seems to be entirely true, confirmed by his manager and Lids. If there was any sleight-of-hand, it was by Deledio with several of his media denials.

So, B22, try not to go off half-cocked. You end up looking totally silly. (There, snuck in another hyperbole for you).

Because our on field performance is complete and utter rubbish - with no prospect of improvement....

Just illogical nonsense with no connection to reason or facts. The team DID make finals the three previous years and scored some strong wins in 2016, despite dropping to 13th, like over one of the grand finalists. So they can never improve ... really?

Yep he really wanted to get out quickly and anywhere it didn't matter where.

Port none

I've watched all matches at least twice.

Deledio one of our best in all 3.

Definitely against Port, leaving him out just shows that you're being salty.

Seems DH was happy for him to go. Reckon it is pretty clear that if we had a different coach next year then Lids would be staying.

Could just as easily be his peers he was having issues with not the coach. Not much is pretty clear until the inevitable tell all book or Open Mike interview
