Deficit *smile* has been in ever since the AFL invented their points ranking system for the draft, they didn't need to sneak it in.
My understanding was that the deficit came off the next available pick or also carried over into the next years draft. If you don't have enough points value to match the bid on a certain father son or academy player the points deficit carries through n you get pushed backwards in the next years draft, might be wrong but that's the way I read the info when the points system came in.

Sorry didn't mean he was invisible, just Daffy had a better finals record. Although in the end it is irrelevant due to 3 finals played each by both of them. Lids Cleary a better football, just thought rance18 point was stupid relied on disposals without watching the games as Daffy was one of the match winners in 95 semi.

Considering Daffy had 11 and 7 touches in his two other completed finals, I'd suggest you are wrong mk33. Only those with NFI would suggest Lids was invisible in all his finals.

Bont has ripped more games apart in 2 years than Deledio did in 10. He had as much talent as anyone we have had for 20 years but I don't think he wanted it enough. I didn't see the pain in his face after we lost games like you do in Cotchin or Jack. He should have been our captain but they gave it to a young kid in Cotchin, that says he was his own man and didn't drag teammates along with him.

Maybe the ineptness of the entire footy club sucked the passion out of him and he realises time is almost up so he wants to enjoy his footy again. I don't blame him for that.

Deledio , leaving has more to it than we are all being told, my tip is he didn't get on with some of the big 4 and leadership group , an individual you could say.
Balme even said it , no point keeping him if he doesn't want to be there .
For me lm glad he is gone , wont play 2 years at the Testube club..

Absolutely agree and the fact no one other than the club and Grigg has publicly said thanks is weird, not even Brett, Clokey and every decent player makes a statement, absolutely nothing from Brett, more than being said for sure..

Also agree with Irock on the bont comparison and also the lack of pain as opposed to Jack and Cotch & Rance as well!!!

Agree with this in a roundabout way. Players like Hodge and Selwood have something in their mental capacity which sets them apart, that Deledio doesn't. But I don't think it's productive to focus on a shortcoming and cast a negative slant on a player's career because he wasn't perfect. Reckon Deledio gave us everything he had, and that's all you can ask. Matthew Knights made the bench in our TOTC, and I'd put Deledio in the same class.

GC's first rounder looks like being pushed back also, they will take Brad Scheer with pick 72 but the points deficit will be deducted from next year's first rounder. The higher they finish the greater the impact this will have on their final draft position.

Scheer is interesting. The comments suggest Scheer is in the 20-30 range. Harry may differ but I suggest Brisbane have a nod nod deal with GCS not to take Bowes at 3 - Carlton will probably force them to use 6 on him because Freo and the swans have other players in mind and couldn't care - if Bowes slips to 10 (unlikely) they will take him there. Scheer will go somewhere else as GCS has no more spots. The more interesting thing is if GCS is forced to take Bowes at 6 will they use 10 on Scheer. the future will tell

I have always been a massive fan of Lids. Heard from a very reliable source who works at the club in a position that understands how players tick.....that Brett leaving is not a bad thing.......

Less chance of players rowing in a different direction now that he is gone......onwards and upwards at Tigerland....we need a champion team!

Are you saying Lids undermined coaching? Did he take a faction in one game plan direction?
So... Lids game plan faction X Dimmas game plan = no game plan?

Agree totally with this. Deledio clearly had sublime skills in pretty much every facet of the game and on that front alone had no equal at the club in the whole time he was there really. He was a thoroughbred amongst draft horses for the most part. But never had the sense he was a really team oriented player. Still....gave us lots of highlights in his time with us so good luck to him.

Irrespective if someone is going against the group direction in a premeditated way i am glad they are leaving/removed from the group...

A champion team always beats a team of champions!

Currently we are neither, however we have absolutely no hope at all if we have players being divisive.

Saw that, pretty average if you look at others who have left after such a long time. In saying that i was never really that attached to Del, as others have said i thought he burnt his talent a little, still had a fantastic career however i think he could have been more.

No doubt wasn't on the same page as the majority of the group , no love lost from his persoective .
Good player in my book but no star , see ya Brett don't rush back...
