Brett Deledio (merged)

I like Deledio. But he isn't a champion in my eyes.
In all 3 finals he was invisible especially in the north game.
Naish and Daffy are rated higher for me.

I am happy with the deal but Lids playing for someone else doesn't sit well with me. I always felt secure when ball was in his hands.

To me only behind Richo as a Tiger player in the 2000s

Further proof you have NFI. Daffy averaged 9 disposals in his 4 finals ::)

disappointed he has gone - what a player - but I'm an unsentimental type and look forward to the Tiges in 2017 without Lids and someone laying the heaviest tackle they can on him.

Unless we picked up a tackling coach I don't think Lids will be lying awake over summer wondering about this .

Deledio was a number 1 draft pick that had tickets on himself then (remember that ridiculous hair do in his first season?) to now. It’s his nature and while he has excellent football skills he does not have the heart of a champion. He never liked the rough stuff and was often “missing” when the Tigers needed his so-called leadership on the field.

Unfortunately we have a lot of front runners at the Tigers and Deledio was simply the best skilled of that group. My focus is always on Tigers who play above themselves week in and week out. Who hate losing a game and will hurt the opposition on the score board and out on the ground. Deledio was not one of those players despite his obvious skill set.

Time to put his memory to bed, as he will do with the Tigers and look towards the new players coming in to hopefully build a side that has more steel in their backbone - something Richmond has been missing for a very long time. Skill alone does not win games let alone premierships!

GC's first rounder looks like being pushed back also, they will take Brad Scheer with pick 72 but the points deficit will be deducted from next year's first rounder. The higher they finish the greater the impact this will have on their final draft position.

You reckon they will go with Pick 72 and not Pick 10?

I heard on the radio the other day (they are actually talking about the Pies but same thing really) that if you take a deficit that it comes off the picks in the round they were bid on, so to come off their first round, Sheer would need a 1st round bid. Is that likely?

Didn't realise that, just assumed it would be from the next available pick. Don't think Scheer will get an early bid, I think it will be in the 20-30 range. We should bid on him to even up the Prestia score.

Knights for me and I liked Gale, Brodders and Dunc

Richo clear numero uno followed by Knights and then Michael Mitchell (despite the career being cut short). Quite possibly the most exciting Richmond player I have ever seen live.

And one better from his WAFL days.

To be fair on Zips, he is correct and your argument has no basis.
Daffy was in the best 3 on the ground in a finals win over Essendon and was injured in first quarter against Carlton.

whats this deficit *smile*? when did the AFL sneak this in? Wonder what they'll come up with next to give the northern clubs an advantage?

Deledio had 24 disposals against Carlton & 29 disposals & 1 goal against Port, hardly what I'd call invisible.

It's a scam Harry, although we are well placed to milk it with Naish next year.

Sorry didn't mean he was invisible, just Daffy had a better finals record. Although in the end it is irrelevant due to 3 finals played each by both of them. Lids Cleary a better football, just thought rance18 point was stupid relied on disposals without watching the games as Daffy was one of the match winners in 95 semi.

Deledio , leaving has more to it than we are all being told, my tip is he didn't get on with some of the big 4 and leadership group , an individual you could say.
Balme even said it , no point keeping him if he doesn't want to be there .
For me lm glad he is gone , wont play 2 years at the Testube club..
